Purpose of the Board • Guide the work of the Alliance • Maintain the independence of Alliance • Oversee the development of Alliance priorities • Ensure the Alliance is on a secure financial footing • Rotate the chairing of Alliance events • Set membership criteria • Approve (with Alliance staff) areas of joint work conducted under the name of the Alliance • Agree work plan of staff and monitor performance

Board members • Prof Dawn Brooker – Worcester University – Research representative • Gill Ayling – Department of Health – Statutory sector representative • Prof Graham Stokes – Bupa – Private sector representative • Jeremy Hughes – Alzheimer’s Society – Not for profit sector representative and host organisation • Peter Dunlop – Person living with dementia representative • Peter Watson – Carer representative • Sharon Blackburn – National Care Forum – Not for profit sector representative

  5. New Board members • Karen Harrison Denning – Dementia UK – Clinicial representative • Heather Gilling – Dementia Support South Lincolnshire – Local representative • Daniel Snipe – PWC – Treasurer • Prof. Alistair Burns – NHS England – invited as Statutory representative

  6. Key decision • Approval of the Governance Framework (on website) • Approval of Lead Executive Objectives • To undertake public affairs work ahead of the General Election

  7. General Election This will be done through: • Running umbrella events for the main parties • Prioritising asks for manifesto commitments • Ensuring politicians don’t think that dementia is ‘fixed’

  8. Proposed ‘asks’ ‘Post diagnostic support’ ‘Breaking down the post code lottery’

  9. Other updates • Annual Report contributions • Carers Call to Action – request for health and well being board dissemination • Right Care Webinar Programme • DAA / Housing LIN Call to Action • Alzheimer’s Society survey of people’s experience of living with dementia
