  1. Training Actions within the RESINBUIL Project: a Web-based Course on SOLAR ENERGY AND OTHER RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS IN BUILDINGS Eduardo MONTERO, Montserrat DÍEZ, María Jesús GONZÁLEZ Department of Electromechanical Engineering, University of Burgos, Spain www.ubu.es

  2. CONTENTS • The Energy Policy of the European Union • The Resinbuil Project & Renewable Energy Sources: Training Actions • The Solar Energy and other RES in Buildings Course • Description & Objectives • Program of Contents • Methodology & the Web-based environment • Information & Registration

  3. THE ENERGY POLICY OF THE EUROPEAN UNION • Main objective of the EU energy policy: to ensure the availability of energy products on the market at an affordable price, whilst respecting environmental concerns and looking towards sustainable development. • Energy supply & renewable energy sources (RES): The EU target is the fulfilment of 12% RES-share in the overall energy production by 2010. • At present, 40% of the energy consumption within the EU corresponds to the residential sector. Buildings should therefore meet minimum energy performance requirements. • Intelligent Energy – Europe is an EU programme for the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

  4. THE RESINBUIL PROJECT: MAIN GOAL • Granted project of the Intelligent Energy – Europe Programme • Promotion of the use and installation of Small Scale Renewable Energy Sources applications in Buildings, mainly solar and biomass energy. • This objective will be achieved by means of a three pronged strategy: • NEW AND CONCRETE MARKET • PROMOTION ACTIONS • TRAINING ACTIONS

  5. THE RESINBUIL PROJECT: STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES • Detection of the current rate of the use of the small scale RES applications and detection of the legal, technical and training barriers on the local level. • 2.Promotion of new market initiatives concerning the small scale RES applications. • 3.High profile promotion of the small scale RES applications. • 4.Supporting TRAINING INITIATIVES.

  6. Partners

  7. THE RESINBUIL PROJECT: EXPECTED RESULTS • Increase of Renewable Energies production at local level, specially those powered by the Solar and Biomass Renewable Energies • Cooperation between Installers and Administration in the installation of Renewable Energies in Building Sector • Diversification of the Energy Sources Consumption • Creation of the ground conditions for the easier application of EU Buildings Directive • Market opportunities • Job Creation • Reduction of the CO2 emissions

  8. THE SOLAR ENERGY AND OTHER RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS IN BUILDINGSCOURSE Improvement Course approved and recognized as a postgraduate course by the University of Burgos

  9. THE SOLAR ENERGY AND OTHER RES IN BUILDINGSCOURSE • Objectives: • The expected outcomes are that the attendants, at the end of the course, would be able to: • Understand the main role that the renewable energy sources play in the present energy context. • Design and project solar energy and biomass systems for buildings • Adressed to • architects, engineers and technicians who wish to become skilled RES technicians

  10. THE SOLAR ENERGY AND OTHER RES IN BUILDINGSCOURSE

  11. THE SOLAR ENERGY AND OTHER RES IN BUILDINGSCOURSE Methodology: The course will be taught in English languagethrough the web-based environment of the University of Burgos for distance teaching, UBUcampus-e. This virtual platform allows the delivery of electronic textbooks and documents, engineering software tools, simulations, animations, questionnaires and exercises. Assessment the main assessment of the course relies on the realization of exercises and the final project, which will show if the attendants have become skilled RES technicians.
