  1. NCCCLP Alumni Workshop “You, the Law and NC Community Colleges” The law affects every decision a community college leader makes.  Sometimes the law is merely background:  Who has the power and authority to do what?  Sometimes the law is an annoyance:  Do we really have to take these silly steps just to stay compliant with that goofy statute?  And sometimes the law is a real concern:  Could this action lead to liability for the college, or for me?  In this session, we will look at a few basic legal principles that underlie good leadership. Bob Joyce, JD Joyce earned a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a JD from Harvard Law School. His publications include: The Law of Employment in North Carolina's Public Schools, The Precinct Manual, and chapters in Education Law in North Carolina.
