Morning classroom procedures l.jpg

MORNING CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

  • Enter quietly, visiting while you prepare for the day.

  • Unpack backpack at your desk.

  • Put backpack lunch and coat in your locker.

  • Sharpen 2 or 3 pencils for the day

  • Get morning work from the table.

  • Work quietly and be finished by 8:15.

  • During announcements sit quietly and pay attention.

HALL PROCEDURES

  • Be a self-manager!

  • Arms down

    at your side.

  • Voices silent.

  • Facing forward.

  • Follow behind the person in

    front of you.

  • Stop at designated catch-up points.

  • Walk on right hand side

    of the hall.

  • Do not touch things on the walls.

PASSING IN PAPERSPROCEDURES

  • Put papers in the center of your group.

  • Paper collector will collect papers off the table.

  • There are times when you will be instructed to turn work into the appropriate tray by the printer.


Restroom procedures l.jpg

RESTROOM PROCEDURES

  • We will take regular classroom restroom breaks.

  • Girls and boys will each line up on their appropriate side in the hall. The first four will go in and as one comes out, another may go in.

  • There will be no talking during this time.

  • Monitor will be taking names.

  • After you are through in the restroom, have washed your hands, and gotten a drink, you may return to the room.

  • Classroom breaks will be after P.E., lunch, and recess.

  • If you need to take a break at another time, you

    will need to place your pin on the chart.

    You may do this only once a day.

PROCEDURES IF TEACHER IS OUT OF THE ROOM

  • If teacher needs to leave the room:

  • Remain in your seat.

  • Work on something or read a book from your desk.

  • Do not talk.

  • Monitor will be taking names.

  • If your name is taken, you will

    earn ½ of recess.

PROCEDURES FOR WHEN ALL WORK IS COMPLETED

  • There is always something to do quietly at your desk:

  • Work on the next days homework.

  • Write in your journal.

  • Read your Texas Weekly magazine.

  • Complete Mad Minutes for the day.

  • Read your library book.

  • Complete any desk packet you are working on.

  • Work on an independent study.

LUNCH PROCEDURES

  • When directed, get lunch money, lunch, and anything else you need

    for lunch.

  • Lunch line, lines up first.

  • Sack lunches line up next.

  • Walk to the cafeteria using hall procedures. You will act as if you are in the classroom, following all the cafeteria rules.

  • Respect the red/yellow cup rules.

  • If you are reported to the teacher by a lunch monitor, you will get ½ of recess that day.

END OF THE DAY PROCEDURES

  • Usually at2:30you will be instructed to “pack up”.

  • Write down assignments from the board into your assignment book.

  • At2:35 get your coat and backpack from your locker.

  • Get all books, papers, and supplies you'll need to complete work at home.

  • Make sure the area around your desk

    is clean.

  • At2:44 put your chair on top of your desk with the legs facing in, and line up quietly.

  • Line up in this order:

    Bus Kids

  • Walkers

  • Car Kids

Daily Rewards

  • If your name is not in the book you earn recess.

  • If your name is in the book one time that day, you earn ½ of recess.

  • If your name is not in the book all week, you will get a sticker on your folder.

  • Blue tickets can be earned for anything the teacher wants to reward you for, such as returning your Take Home Folder on time.

  • At the end of the 6-weeks six tickets will be drawn for a prize from the prize box.

Daily Consequences

  • If your name is in the book two times

    in one day you do not earn recess.

  • If your name is in the book three times in one day you earn the use of the

    phone to call your parent.

  • If your name is in the book four times in one day you earn a

    visit with a principal.

Following Procedures + Good Weather = Daily Recess

  • Our “new day” starts after lunch.

  • Name in the book starts fresh every Thursday for weekly reports.

  • Name in the book counts two points off conduct for the six weeks.

  • Conduct grade is a running total for

    the six weeks.

Welcome to fourth grade. I am glad you are in my class, and I look forward to getting to know you better.

We have much to learn. I hope you are eager to use the computer, play learning games, do science experiments, learn to write stories, develop your creativity, and read many great books.

Please talk to me when you have something to share, when you do not understand, or when you are upset. I will listen carefully. I expect you to be a good listener, too.

Working together, we can make fourth grade a very special year.
