When the 7th mayor died the box went missing. They city is falling apart and there's nothing anyone can do but Lina Mayfleat and Doon Harrow step in to help. They are best friends. Lina finds the box in her grandmother’s closet, but her little sister had tore it in to pieces and they have to put it together piece by piece. They need to figure out how to get out. The fate of the whole city is in their hands.

  13. The summary to the People Of Sparks • The people of Ember have come to a new world, arriving with hardly more than the clothes on their backs. But the people in the village of Sparks are willing to help them or at least at first. • This new world is strange to the people Ember. It’s all most completely empty. There is no electricity. What is the Disaster the people of Sparks talk of? Gradually the people of Ember learn the answers to these questions. But the biggest question of all remains. Can they live with these people? Or are they heading for disaster again?

  14. The Prophet of Yonwood • It’s 50 years before the settlement of the city of Ember, and the world is in crisis. War looms on the horizon as 11-year-old Nickie and her aunt travel to the small town of Yonwood, North Carolina. There, one of the town’s respected citizens has had a terrible vision of fire and destruction. Her garbled words are taken as prophetic instruction on how to avoid the coming disaster. If only they can be interpreted correctly. • As the people of Yonwood try to make sense of the woman’s mysterious vision, Nickie explores the oddities she finds around town her great-grandfather’s peculiar journals and papers, a reclusive neighbor who studies the heavens, a strange boy who is fascinated with snakes all while keeping an eye out for ways to help the world.

  15. The Diamond of Darkhold • It's been several months since Lina and Doon escaped the city of Ember and, along with the rest of their people, joined the town of Sparks. Life above ground is hard. The winter storms have been fierce. Supplies are running low. Accidents and disease have been happening a lot. • It's during this dark time that Doon finds an unusual book. Torn up and missing most of its pages, it alludes to a mysterious device, a piece of technology from before the Disaster. Doon is sure that the Builders of Ember meant for the citizens to find this device when they left the city. Together, he and Lina must go back to their old home and retrieve what was lost.
