  1. HERC HAVEQUICK Chief Warrant Officer Jim May III VMGR-452 Avionics Officer COM 845-563-2946 DSN 336-2946 Email - MayJH@mfr.usmc.mil 20 January 2003

  2. HAVEQUICK • Anti-Jam Communication System • Algorithm controlled Freq Hopping • UHF only • AM Line-of-Site (LOS) • Jam-Resistant (Not Secure) • Plain or Secure Voice (with KY-58) • Developed by USAF

  3. ACRONYMS • HQ - HAVEQUICK (Active) • TOD - Time-of-Day (Mickey) • WOD - Word-of-Day • MWOD - Multiple WOD (Up to 6) • FMT - Frequency Managed Training • NET# - Network ID Number (Jump) • Op Day - Operational Day (Segment 7)

  4. ARC-164 (RT-1505) UHF Only HAVEQUICK I/II form-fit replacement for KC-130 #2 ARC-159 (requires an adapter cable). Built-in control panel. 2 Types of Control Panels: Old - Manual display, Non-NVIS (Face plate can be changed out). New - LCD display, NVIS compatible, Programmable with DTD. Can be used with KY-58. EQUIPMENT

  5. ARC-210 (RT-1556) UHF/VHF. HAVEQUICK I/II. SINCGARS. CDNU/RCU Control panels. Programmable with DTD/AFP. Can be used with KY-58. Future RT-1794(C) and RT-1824(C) will have embedded COMSEC (Built-in KY-58). EQUIPMENT R/T CDNU RCU

  6. DTD (CYZ-10) AFP Software (PC to DTD). CSEP (DTD Application) Loads Regular Presets, AJ Presets (HQ/SINCGARS) and WODs (KAL-9200 Crypto) into ARC radio systems. EQUIPMENT

  7. TERMINOLOGY • TOD consists of two parts: • Precise Zulu Time: Hours, Minutes, Seconds, Sub-Micro-Seconds; synchronized time allows radios to frequency hop together. • Op-Day: Equal to the current calendar day (01-31), selects the active WOD when the radios has multiple WODs loaded (MWOD mode).

  8. TERMINOLOGY • TOD Types: • Preferred: (GPS-TOD) A precise TOD is passed from the internal aircraft GPS system once the system has a valid time. • Alternate: (Auto-TOD) A TOD passed from a such as a GPS Time Transmitter (Auto-Dog). Usually transmitted over a plain channel ship/station beacon every 15 seconds. • Other: A TOD passed from another user, only as accurate as the other user. • Self-Start/Emergency: Self-Starts radio clock to 00:00:00.000000. Must then manually enter the Op-Day and transmit this TOD to all other users or later receive a TOD update from another source.

  9. 300.050 376.000 359.100 314.300 297.600 287.400 First Segment TERMINOLOGY • WOD: Consists of 6 segments (36 digits) that “look like” UHF frequencies. It defines the frequency hopping dwell times and hopping rates (Net characteristics/pattern). WOD Example • Segment 1: selects Combat or Training mode (300.0XX selects Training Mode), all others are Combat WODs. • Last 2 digits of the 1st Segment: Selects the Hop Rate. • Last 2 digits of the 2nd segment: Selects whether Conferencing Mode is enabled/disabled (00/50=Enabled, 25/75=Disabled, Training Mode is always in Conference Mode). Conference Mode: allows two net members to transmit simultaneously and be received by the remaining net members.

  10. 300.050 376.000 359.100 314.300 297.600 287.400 05 Date Tag TERMINOLOGY • MWOD: Simply a WOD with a Date Tag. A Date Tag is a two digit calendar day (01-31). MWOD Example • Up to 6 MWODs can be preloaded into a radio, this allows seamless operation through rollover times (2400-0001Z). • The MWOD used by the radio is the MWOD whose Date Tag matches the Op-Day in the TOD. • An Op-Day is the actual mission/calendar day (01-31).

Classified Confidential Non-COMSEC CMS material. SAMPLE KAL-9200 KEY-TAPE

  12. TERMINOLOGY • FMT: Frequency Managed Training Table, the actual frequencies (Hop Set) that make up the Training Net (T-Net). • HQ I Training mode: Contains 5 FMT Table (Last 5 Seg of WOD). • HQ II Training mode: Contains 16 FMT Table (Below). • HQ II Combat Mode: Contains nearly unlimited combinations of Hop Sets, only authorized for actual wartime. • CONUS approved FMT Table: normally already defaulted in the radio: HQII (16 FMT - CONUS) HQI (5 FMT) F1 – 235.050 F9 – 314.450 F1 – XXX.XXX F2 – 225.150 F10 – 308.750 F2 – XXX.XXX F3 – 252.925 F11 – 303.275 F3 – XXX.XXX F4 – 239.950 F12 – 298.650 F4 – XXX.XXX F5 – 271.950 F13 – 293.550 F5 – XXX.XXX F6 – 267-850 F14 – 289.050 F7 – 262.450 F15 – 284.150 F8 – 257.250 F16 – 279.750

  13. TERMINOLOGY • NET: A group of frequencies that is used for synchronized frequency hopping during HAVEQUICK operations. • Combat Mode: 1000 possible Nets (000-999) • Training Mode: 5 possible Nets in HQI (000-004) 16 possible Nets in HQII (000-015)

  14. TERMINOLOGY • NET#: Determines the order in which the radio will hop among the frequencies, has the following form: AXX.XYY • In Combat Mode: XX.X = 00.0 - 99.9 (1000 Nets), frequency tables used are: • AXX.X00 HQ I • AXX.X25 HQ II NATO (Europe) • AXX.X50 HQ II Non-NATO (Non-Europe/War Reserve) • AXX.X75 Reserved for HQ IIa (Saturn) • In Training Mode (T-Net): • AXX.X00 HQ I, XX.X = 00.0 - 00.4 (5 T-Nets), 5 FMT specified by the training WOD. • AXX.X25 HQ II, XX.X = 00.0 - 01.5 (16 T-Nets), 16 FMT Table used.
