  2. Warm-Up: GHSWT Sample • Read and take notes on the student sample paper for the GHSWT. • Use the rubric you have been given to rate each category on the scale.

  3. GHSWT Class Graph: • When you have finished reading/annotating the paper and using the rubric, calculate the score. • Write your name in BIG letters on the Post-it you have been given and place it on the graph next to the letter grade you would give this paper.

  4. Study Guide Questions? • With the test tomorrow, now is the time to ask any last minute questions that you have about the material on your study guide.

  5. Group Work Session: • Today is the last day that you will be given class time to work on your presentations. • Before you leave today: • 1. Your group will finish and turn in the Group Presentation Organizer with everyone’s names on the top. • 2. Your group will get as near to finishing as possible on the presentation. • 3. Each group member will know what his/her responsibility is as far as the presentation goes and have notes to complete it.

  6. Exit Pass: Reworking Theme Statements • Using what we have learned about theme (and your guided notes!), turn the following into a correct statement of a theme from The Iliad. • “ The main theme of the book is that Hector wants to be honored by his men” • For your theme statement, think about what universal message could be shared by Hector’s desire to be honored by his men.

  7. “ The main theme of the book is that Hector wants to be honored by his men” Name: Class Period: This statement of theme is incorrect because __________________________________________. The correct way to state this idea in a statement of theme is __________________________________________.
