  3. How does someone work out the number of calories they burn when running? If you run a mile, this is how you work the numbers you burn when running a mile. 1st ) Weigh yourself on the scale, then write it down. 2nd) Multiply your body weight by 0.75. This is your total calories burned per mile. 3rd) Multiply the answer in Step 2 by the number of miles you ran. This is the total number of calories you burned while running.


  4. If someone weighs 52.3 kg how many calories would they burn running 1 km? Show your working. 1 km = 0.621 mile 1st) Multiply your body weight by 0.75: 52.3 kg x 0.75 = 39.225 calories/mile 2nd)Multiply the answer in Step 1 and the answer will be the total calories that person burnt while running: 39.225 calories/mile x 0.621 mile = 24.3587 calories burnt while running

  5. How far would this person have to run to burn the calories that are in a doughnut? Show how you work this out. 52.3 kg x 0.75 = 39.225 calories/mile Divide the calories in the doughnut by the calories burnt per mile. 185 calories divided by 39.225 calories/mile = 4.72 miles (ANSWER)
