  2. Beret hats have been in trend for a long time. Once used by peasants, beret hats slowly turned into a military headgear over the time as it can be seen more prevalent in World War I and World War II. • Then it became a symbol of political statement over the time which changed again into military headgear later.

  3. This beret hats have indeed a rich history and it is surprising to see how one headgear could last thousands of years if we include the evidence that archeologist has found while digging in Italy in Denmark. • It can also be possible that beret hat did exist even before Jesus Christ was born.

  4. An archaeologist has found evidence of beret hats even in 3000 BC in Italy and Denmark. • After that, as time progressed, it can be seen that many different European countries also did adapt to this trend. • Call it Spain, France, Greece the whole Europe wore it at one point in time.

  5. So it isn’t surprising that beret hats are found in histories of many different countries. • In all these places, the beret hats were different in shape and size of some sort. • As local tradition did put an impact, it was influencing the trend of beret hats too.

  6. But, among all the differences, there was one aspect it was common in all the beret hats and that was the cloth that it was made up of. • This is common even now, as guys who shop men beret hats, always look for the style and the material first. • Felt is the simplest and oldest form of cloth which existed from long ago.

  7. Since it was simple and cheap, beret hats are mostly made out from felt. • Beret hats, in old ages, had to be cheap as it was used by peasants as a headgear. • Sometimes even it was the only headgear that was used to protect their head against rain and winter.

  8. The cloth felt was made from matting and pressing wet fur. • It was cheap and felt thus was used in much different clothing. • In the case of beret hats, it played an important role as it enabled the manufacturer of beret hats to be cheap.

  9. And it indeed helped in growing popularity among the common mass. • Because it had to be cheap, otherwise the working class of the society at that time couldn’t have afforded it in the first place and the beret hat, wouldn’t have been popular much also. • Since felt was cheap, it made the beret hats also cheap and thus this headgear was able to take a place in history.
