  1. Know What Makes Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee Unique Jamaican blue mountain coffee is highly specific, grown in the Blue Mountains in Jamaica. The beans are harvested mainly from four regions like Portland, St. Andrew, St. Thomas and St. Mary. The beans are grown in these areas at an altitude of 3000 to 5,500 feet. If the beans do not meet ant one of the criteria, they cannot be termed with the prestigious blend. The beans are hand-picked, making it a laborious task for people involved. Many people prefer to buy Italian coffee beans online as they would get genuine products at the correct price, the same goes with the Jamaican variety as well. The Jamaican variety is very rare and costly as well. The few reasons for the popularity of this coffee are:  Unique taste: the blue mountain coffee is grown at high altitudes and the harsh climate on the hills. Cool, covered with mist, clouds touching the ground, volcanic soils play a vital role in making the hot beverage delicious. The beans are allowed to grow naturally, which is generally 10 months, double the time required for normal coffee beans. consider the elevation as critical, as it is a known fact that higher altitudes produce a denser bean which can be converted into a richer cup of coffee.  Quality picking: A labour intensive picking process is followed in which employees are trained to pick only the beans that meet the specified standards. The beans at the popular brand are sorted by hand and inspected for undesirable qualities like too big or too small. They are then checked thoroughly for any defects. A whole, totally untarnished beans are processed further in the manufacturing process.  Roasting process: The beans are roasted to a lighter shade and bring out the creamy, smooth mouthfeel with a hint of sweetness. The roasted beans need to be approved by the Coffee Industry of Jamaica for their approval.
