  2. 1st period only Please take handout near door for PPIE for information on donating or volunteering. This year FHS received $33,000 to support technology, additional class sections, counseling and/or supervision.

  3. THANK YOU PARENTS • Thank you for your generosity. The math dept received $8,000 in donations from the parent letter send out at the end of August. • Money will be applied to updating technology and class materials that include, but not limited to: LCD projectors, printer paper, toner, markers, calculators, calculator batteries, Scantrons, photocopies, etc. • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

  6. Class Grade Structure • Test 45% • Quizzes 20% • Homework 20% • Final 15%

  7. Extra Help • From me, after school by appt any day except Thursdays. And at lunch every day. • Peer tutor program- uncertain.

  8. “Q” aka Zangle • I do use it as my grading program • Grades updated when as soon as I finish grading it. • User ID and password (office)

  9. Homework • Usually assigned daily. See website. • Homework assigned from Fri-Thurs is turn in the following Monday. • Students correct their own assignments before submitting them.

  10. Section 2.1 Conditional Statements Common Core – What will it look like in a math classroom? • More emphasis on: • collaborative learning • students explaining and justifying their thinking • literacy - writing and reading about math • discovery learning • multi-step problems ( depth of knowledge) • Different style assessments

  11. This year is a transition year to CC • District level teams will be doing work this year on: • Instructional strategies • Curriculum mapping • Formative and benchmark assessments aligned to CCSS • State testing this spring?
