The Reeve “the reeve was old and choleric and thin.”
Evil Chaucer's opinion of evil is that he finds people who are fixed on money and themselves are the most evil. People high up in society abuse their social status and use it for their benefit.
The Reeve “The accounts, right from his master’s earliest years. No one had ever caught him in arrears.” No bailiff, serf, or herdsman dared to kick, He knew their dodges, knew their every trick;” Feared like the plague he was, by those beneath He had a lovely dwelling on a heath.”
THE EVIL WORKERS BOOM!
The Evil Workers For the most part, Chaucer describes the workers in society as both good and bad. To start his descriptions off he names the good things they do, and concludes with satirization of them and the evil they perform. The three main characters he describes are The Doctor, The Lawyer, and The Miller.
The Doctor “No one alive could talk as well as he did on points of medicine and of surgery.” “He did not read the Bible very much”. “Gold stimulates the heart, or so we’re told. He therefore had a special love of gold”
The Lawyer “He wore a homely parti-colored coat, Girt with a silken belt of pin-stripe stuff” “He knew of every judgment, case, and crime Ever recorded since King William’s time” “He had won him many a robe and a fee. There was no such conveyancer as he; All was fee-simple to his strong digestion, not one conveyance could be called in question.
The Miller “The Miller was a chap of sixteen stone, A great stout fellow big in brawn and bone.” “for wherever a festive day At wrestling, he always took the prize away.” “He was a jester and knew some poetry, But mostly all of sin and obscenity.” “He could steal corn and three times charge his fee; And yet indeed he had a thumb of gold.”
The Summoner The summoner is a worker of the church who summons people to the church court.
Physical Appearance “His face on fire, like a cherubim, for he had carbuncles. His eyes were narrow, he was a hot and lecherous as a sparrow.” “No boracic, so it seems, could make a salve that had the power to bite, clean up, or purge the pimple sitting on his cheeks.”
The Summoner “And drinking strong red wine till all is hazy.” “Why he’d allow-just for a quart of wine-any good lad to keep a concubine.”
The Summoner “He knew their secrets, they did what he said.”

The Pardoner was the most evil Character in Chaucer’s opinion.
