  1. September 11, 2001 Where were you?

  2. The terrorist attacks against the U.S. began with the World Trade Center bombing in NYC in 1993.

  3. Al-Qaeda Translation: "The Base“ A global Sunni Islamist militant group founded by Osama bin Laden in the late 80s. It operates as a network comprising both a multinational, stateless army and a radical Sunni Muslim movement calling for global Jihad.

  4. Terrorist attacks after 1993 WTC bombing 1998: In Kenya & Tanzania truck bombs exploded almost simultaneously near 2 U.S. embassies, killing 224 (213 in Kenya and 11 in Tanzania) and injuring about 4,500. 4 men connected with Al-Qaeda were convicted of the killings in May 2001 2000: The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Colewas heavily damaged when a small boat loaded with explosives blew up alongside it. 17 sailors killed were killed. The attack was linked to the al-Qaeda terrorist network.

  6. “They began jumping not long after the 1st plane hit the North Tower, not long after the fire started. They kept jumping until the tower fell. They jumped through windows already broken and then, later, through windows they broke themselves. They jumped to escape the smoke and the fire; they jumped when the ceilings fell and the floors collapsed; they jumped just to breathe once more before they died. They jumped continually, from all four sides of the building, and from all floors above and around the building’s fatal wound…For more than an hour and a half, they streamed from the building, one after another, consecutively rather than en masse, as if each individual required the sight of another individual jumping before mustering the courage to jump himself or herself. One photograph, taken at a distance, shows people jumping in perfect sequence, like parachutists, forming an arc composed of three plummeting people, evenly spaced. Indeed, there were reports that some tried parachuting, before the wind generated by their fall ripped the drapes, the tablecloths, the desperately gathered fabric, from their hands. They were very much alive on their way down, and their way down lasted an approximate count of ten seconds. They were all, obviously, not just killed when they landed but destroyed, in body though not, one prays, in soul. One hit a fireman on the ground and killed him; the fireman’s body was anointed by father Mychal Judge, whose own death, shortly thereafter, was embraced as an example of martyrdom .”

  7. “No one ever got used to it; no one who saw it wished to see it again although, of course many saw it again. Each jumper, no matter how many there were, brought fresh horror, elicited shock, tested the spirit, struck a lasting blow.”

  11. And people continue to die "On 9/11 I thought, 'This is World War Three - this is it.' It was like a living h*ll to walk into that. I got sick to my stomach - some of the body bags looked like spam inside. It was horrible. I cried. I have no regrets of being there. If I recovered 100% from this and it happened again, I'd go right back. That's what I hate about the whole thing - it just stopped my whole life." 12. And people are still sick "We found 150 full bodies and 20,000 body parts. It was like being in h*ll down there - arms, legs, people cut in half - a gruesome job. There were guys down there that were spitting up blood. And now many, many people are sick It’s a sad state of affairs that everybody’s sick now. I always have my inhaler with me. I never know when I’m not gonna get my next breath. I’m just glad to be alive" Former FDNY Deputy Chief Jim Riches lost his oldest son, FDNY firefighter Jimmy Riches, on 9/11. He worked on the pile and found Jimmy's body on March, 25th, 2002. Soon Chief Riches fell ill and wound up in a coma. His lung capacity is reduced by 30% and he had to retire.
