  3. Sustaining the living presence Preparation: 2014 -2016 Research Staffing ( Admin) Appeal Resources Up-grades Prototype Planning and professional fees Costs for preparation: £421,652

  4. Phased Build: Phase 1 : December 2017 - May 2018 Costs: £755,000 includes: Installation lift, new entrance and reception area Office adjustments in cloisters and Welcome Centre in preparation for Phase 2 Work to library with Iona Cathedral Trust Campaign costs

  5. 2018: Non-Residential Season June - August 2018 A daytime programme with Iona Community members and friends

  6. Phase 2:somewhere in range £1.5 million (tender due May 2018) refurbish and insulate bedrooms up-grade lighting in public spaces up-grade all plumbing and install sustainable energy heating system adjustments to refectory which increase access

Beneficiaries Guests: increased access for people of all abilities with warm, well-lit accommodation Volunteers: potential for learning and accreditation to be developed Islanders: access to community space, local businesses will benefit from the extended season. Commitment to using local materials, labour and support services Partners: access developed for day visitors. Environmentally sustainable heating system Stakeholders: intentional invitation to campaigners, carers, urban community work supporting situations of injustice and there are more benefits ........

  8. which include ........ The Iona Community: through the Development Officer post, will establish new relationships with organisations and charities working with issues of peace and justice. The post also creates the opportunity to explore training and accreditation within the volunteering scheme. Education and training institutions: access to residential learning environments, new opportunities for intentional study programmes and community development placements Day visitors: to the Abbey will enjoy easier access and have the opportunity to experience work and worship as part of community life within the Abbey complex.
