  2. Facts about Domestic Violence: 1in 4 women experience domestic violence at some point in their lives. 1 in 6 men experience domestic violence at some point in their lives.

  4. Aims: • Provide all staff with basic awareness and knowledge of Domestic Violence. • Provide information about where help is available.

  5. In the UK… • In a survey of 1300, 8-16 year old pupils, carried out by “ZeroTolerance Charitable Trust” in 2000… 1 in 2 boys and 1 in 3 girls thought it was acceptable for a woman to be hit under certain circumstances

  6. In the UK… • In a survey of conducted by NSPCC in 2005… 1 in 5 girls have been hit by a boyfriend. One third say cheating justifies violence.

  7. In the UK… 16% of girls surveyed by NSPCC and Sugar Magazine (average age 15), hadbeen hit by a boyfriend. 40% of the girls surveyed accepted this behaviour.

  9. In the UK… 60% of young people who are violent towards their parents or another they are in a closerelationship with, grew up in a home where they witnessed domestic violence.

  10. Domestic violence and the links to teenage pregnancy… 70% of teenage mothers are in a violence relationship 4 to 6 times more likely to become pregnant during their teen years.
