  1. StoneBeat Training Classroom Requirements

Lab Sites Each lab siteconsists of • 2 Cluster nodes • 1 test client for StoneBeat HA 3.1 and FullCluster Cluster nodes must have supported hardware and software • Cluster nodes in a same lab site have to run identical operating systems • both, Windows NT and Sun Solaris are acceptable Maximum of 3 students per site (2 recommended) • Maximum of 12 students per 4 site classroom (8 recommended)

  3. Classroom Hardware Requirements For each Cluster site • 2 Cluster hosts with monitors, keyboards and mice • 3 supported Ethernet NICs in each • For StoneBeat HA 3.1 one serial cable for backup heartbeat (optional) • 1 client machine with monitor, keyboard and mouse • 3 hubs • 1 external hub (100Mb recommended) • 1 internal hub (100Mb recommended) • 1 control hub or cross-over ethernet cable • 6 to 8 ethernet cables (8 if control hub 6 if not)

  4. Classroom Hardware Requirements Shared hardware • 1 external host • 1 hub for the external host (100Mb recommended)

  5. Classroom Software Requirements • Operating systems • Windows NT 4.0 with SP4 or later • Solaris 2.6 (32-bit mode) with suggested patches • Solaris 7 (32-bit mode) with cluster patches • Red Hat Linux 6.1 • Underlying software for the Cluster nodes • StoneBeat Clustering software

  6. Software Licenses • Stonesoft provides licenses for StoneBeat Clustering products • Available at http://ats.stonebeat.com/ • ATS Partner is responsible for all the other software licenses (e.g. operating system)

  7. Instructor Equipment • One computer with video projector • Video projector is required for the training presentations

  8. Lab Network Routing • Use static routes from Cluster nodes to corresponding internal networks • Use static routes from FTP server to corresponding internal networks

  9. The basic tests • Always test the classroom network before each training course • Ping every IP address from every host • With StoneBeat FullCluster and StoneBeat HA 3.1, ping all internal network clients from the external network server and vice versa • Install and configure underlying software • Check the system and software operation • Make a routine for lab testing to ensure pleasant training for the students and the instructor
