  3. PASSO TONALE -ITALY • One of highest resorts in Italy • Excellent for beginners and intermediates • Small, friendly resort

  4. Coach Travel • Pick up from school Friday 10th Feb • Travel by Ferry • Overnight journey • Arrive following evening – ski hire

  5. Hotel Piandineve**** • The Hotel Piandineve is a large modern property with a comfortable alpine interior and vibrant atmosphere. • It is ideally located at the foot of the slopes and only 50m from the lifts. • All rooms with private facilities, telephone, TV and hairdryer • 5 minute walk from resort • Large restaurant – buffet style meals • Disco • Arcade with video games • TV room

  6. The Journey • Comfortable clothing • Very small hand luggage bag (to fit in overhead storage on coach) • Wear/use your ski jacket – saves space in your suitcase • Carry food and a small amount of money to buy food en route (10-20E) • Small charge for toilets at rest stop: take some change

  7. A typical day: part 1 • Wake up call at 7-7.30!! • Breakfast – serve yourself with cereal, bread rolls, cheese, cold meats and jam.. • Collect lift pass/gloves/glasses/goggles and a little money for snacks • Apply face creams, lip salve and smile!

  8. A typical day : part 2 • Carry ski equipment to the chairlift queue. Meet ski instructor. • Two hour ski lesson • Lunch : Hot lunch back at the hotel • Two hour ski lesson • Quick shower!!! • Evening Meal • Evening entertainment • Sleep!

  9. Evening Activities • Outdoor Skating • Tobogganing • Pizza Evening • Quiz Night • Karaoke • Presentation Evening

  10. Tuition • 6days tuition • 2 hour lesson in morning and 2 hour lesson in afternoon • English speaking instructors

  11. Awards • Local Alpine ski awards • ‘Ski Whizz’ & ‘Ski Wally’ Awards • Presentation evening on last night

  12. Rules and Regulations • Students must follow instructions from both teachers and instructors • The journey / free time is just as hazardous as the skiing • Please leave valuables at home • No smoking or drinking alcohol

  13. Insurance • Extensive winter sports insurance is included in your package. • PGL is one of the most recognised names in school trips with many years experience of operating ski tours. • Please see insurance details for full cover details, but naturally all activities arranged by PGL are covered, as well as skis, personal belongings, etc - subject to a small excess in most cases.

  14. Tallington Ski Lessons • Highly recommended • Private individual tuition • Small group tuition • School organised group tuition

  15. Ski Clothing • Ski clothing : buy/hire/borrow • Kit List – ski • 3/4 pairs of thick socks • 1 pair of ski gloves • Good quality sun glasses and goggles • A thick fleece plus polo necks • Thermal trousers and top • Scarf and warm hat • Après ski boots or heavy shoes • High factor suntan lotion / block – please help to ensure that pupils do not expose themselves to the potential hazard of sunburn. • Please note that temperatures on the snow can vary enormously in late season with bright sunshine and hot temperatures one minute and then cold, cloudy weather the next. Hence we would recommend several layers are worn each day i.e. thermal top, polo, fleece top, jacket to be prepared for all types of conditions.

  16. Other Essential Kit Kit List Below is a list of suggested items we recommend to take: • Pillow and pillow case (for the journey). • Wash bag and towels • Night clothes • Several changes of underwear and socks • Casual wear for travel and evenings, including a warm fleece • Several t-shirts / long-sleeved and short-sleeved • A pair of trainers • Labelled strong plastic bags (bin liners) for wet clothes • Plastic water bottle • Toiletries

  17. How to take it! • One MEDIUM sized suitcase ( you will have to carry it) containing snow wear, clothes, underwear, towels(2) • One small hand luggage bag containing food/drink/passport/money/medication • ONE pair of ski socks • Use ski jacket as pillow/quilt it gets very cold on the bus late at night

  18. Return Journey • Suitcase to be mostly packed on Thursday • Return Ski equipment after Friday PM ski lesson • Shower and evening meal at hotel • Begin coach journey • Sleep(?) until breakfast stop • Telephone call once drivers can give an arrival time.

  19. Advice • Have basic lessons at Tallington. Progress is very slow if you have to learn how to put the equipment on and learn how to stop… • Ask Santa for ski gloves/goggles/thermals, etc • Borrow any ski wear you can & check out the sales! • Think about your fitness levels…four hours of exercise, outside in the fresh air every day, is hard work. Make sure you are fit!
