  1. Answering Doctrinal Questions (Part 1) Stan Crowley But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; (1 Pet 3:15 NKJV)

  2. 1. What must one do to become a Christian? • In Matt. 28:19 (ASV) is the admonition to “make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them”. • Grammatically, the phrase “baptizing them” explains how one is made a disciple. • In Acts 11:26, we learn the equivalence between “disciple” and “Christian.” • Thus: the only way the Scriptures teach to become a Christian is by baptism. 2

  3. 1. What must one do to become a Christian? • Belief • (John 8:24 ASV) … except ye believe that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. • Repentance • (2 Cor 7:10 ASV) For godly sorrow workethrepentanceuntosalvation, … • Confessing Christ • (Rom 10:10 ASV) … with the mouth confession is made untosalvation. • Baptism • (Acts 2:38 ASV) … be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission of your sins; … 3

  4. 2. Is every word of the Scriptures inspired by God? • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, … • 2 Peter 1:20-21 (NKJV) … no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 4

  5. 2. Is every word of the Scriptures inspired by God? • (1 Cor 2:12-13 NKJV) … that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, …. • 1 Corinthians 14:37 (NKJV) … the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. 5

  6. 3. Is evolution a viable option for the origin of the species? How did life begin on earth? • The existence of man is either a random event or a purposeful event. • There is not any other option. • It must be either one or the other: • a purposeful creation • a random event • How does one tell the difference? 6

  7. 3. Is evolution a viable option for the origin of the species? How did life begin on earth? • If I find a piece of paper with: • 7354928765085639398659836254 • Was that number created at random? Can’t tell. • If I find a piece of paper with: • 7354928765085639398659826254 • 7354928765085639398659836254 • 7354928765085639398659936254 • Those numbers are purposefully created. • If I find a piece of paper with: • 7354928765085639398659826254 • 9287567199836038756248718983 • 0495790112347009871234984578 • Those numbers are randomly created. • Randomness is proven by other variations. 7

  8. 3. Is evolution a viable option for the origin of the species? How did life begin on earth? • If man is the result of a random process (evolution), there should be many other variations. • Eight or twelve fingers • Three eyes • Four arms • Where are the other random events: the persons with different body parts??? • Man must be a purposefullycreated being!! 8

  9. 3. Is evolution a viable option for the origin of the species? How did life begin on earth? • Life began on earth just exactly as described in Genesis. • The uniform “construction” of man shows man is not the result of a random process, but a purposeful creation by a Creator. • Nothing else makes any sense! • In 150 years evolution will be as laughable as the “flat earth.” 9

  10. 4. Is the earth billions of years old? Approx. how old is the earth? • No, the earth is not billions of years old!’ • There are several indications that the earth is about 10,000 years old. • The amount of helium in the atmosphere indicates the earth is no older than about 10,000 years. • Ocean floors reveal a sediment accumulating for about 10,000 years. • Only 20 million years ago the sun would have been the size of the earth's orbit around it.
