  1. Bronze Boot Run WHO: Cowboy Battalion Cadets WHAT: Bronze Boot WHEN: 18-19OCT13 WHERE: Wyoming/Colorado Border and Laramie, Wy SUMMARY: The Bronze Boot was started in 1968 by the Army ROTC programs of Colorado State University (CSU) and the University of Wyoming (UW). The original boot was worn in Vietnam War by a Lieutenant who graduated from CSU. The Bronze Boot only added to the rivalry of the Border Wars that already existed since 1899. The Army ROTC programs at both schools only help grow that staunch rivalry. The Bronze Boot events for Cadets starts a day before the actual football game. The day starts fairly early with the tradition of the Cadets running the game ball from the visiting school campus to the school hosting the game. The Cadets from CSU ran the ball in a relay to the Wyoming/Colorado Border for the ceremonial exchange of the game ball between the coaches, athletic directors and Professors of Military Science. Then the Cadets from UW ran the ball to the stadium. The border ceremony is usually televised and the runners get a police, sheriff and highway patrol escort. The day of the game starts with Cadets from the school who previously won the Bronze Boot marching the Bronze Boot into the stadium. It then falls on the Cadets to guard the Boot until the gridiron determines the new winner of the Border War. Cowboy Strong!
