  1. Does technology contribute to investigating cognitive processes? • Learning outcome : • Discuss the use of technology in investigating cognitive processes. (ex MRI in memory research; fMRI in decision making research)

  2. Task…..due 15/16 March • Prepare a word document which outlines relevant content that could be used to plan an LAQ for this learning outcome. • Headings must be used for each section starting with the ‘unpacking’. • Some sections will require independent research or reference to previous bio LOA notes.

  3. Resources…. • Your bio LOA worksheet outlining various technologies which are uses to study the brain. • Crane- pages -44-45; 78-79 and 86-87

  4. Partners…… • ‘Unpack’ the learning outcome- in your own words write down what the learning outcome is really focused on. • Start by examining the demands of the command term discuss.

  5. Provide facts • Explain two technologies which can be used to study cognitive processes. • Clearly identify what processes can be understood using the technology. • Identify what each technology shows. • For each technology, outline one research study which has used that technology to study a cognitive process. (Aim, procedure, outcome) • Outline one classic case study (ex Clive Wearing or HM) which has been explained using technology. • Identify a question which you think yields an interesting answer about technology and cognition.

  6. LAQ ……. • Give a skeleton outline of an LAQ – see Crane page 87. • Follow guidelines for LAQ writing…..
