What is a Oxymoron?
  • A figure of speech in which incongruous or contradictory terms appear side by side; a compressed paradox.
  • Usually two to three words but can be longer.

  • A OXYMORON IS NOT A PARADOX!
  • A paradox is a statement that self-contradicts and seems absurd but in reality expresses a possible truth.
why are they important
Why are they important?
  • A oxymoron can be used to make a reader pause and think about the authors meaning of a certain statement.
