  1. PNA Family Performance Testing • Using the • Embedded Test System (ETS) PNA Family Embedded Test System

  2. The PNA Family Embedded Test System • The PNA Family Embedded Test System is a complete performance verification solution. • The tests within this system are fully qualified for Z540 and 17025 standards. • Those users who have had experience with the Test Management Environment (TME) in the past will notice the same testing and report generation capability is retained. • The ETS is a core part of firmware versions A.07.22 and above, and can be used on all PNA-X, PNA-L, and PNA models. Since it is core to the firmware, the user will always get the latest version whenever they update the firmware. PNA Family Embedded Test System

  3. The PNA Family Embedded Test System • The test functionality has three levels based on the license provided. • With no license, the basic tests will function and Pass/Fail results will be displayed, but detailed results will not be saved. • With the Agilent Inclusive Cal license (option 897) installed, detailed measured results, specification limits, and Pass/Fail results will be stored and a calibration report can be generated. • With a Standards Compliant Cal license (option 898) installed, measurement uncertainty values are stored in addition to those values listed above and are used to determine the overall test result. • Site licenses are also available which give Option 898 functionality to every PNA at a customer’s site. 4. Purchasing the PNA Embedded Test System • Licenses for the ETS may be purchased in the following ways: • Options 897 and 898 may be added to the initial product purchase or can be added later by purchasing an upgrade. The price with either method is the same. • These options are available on the N5242A PNA-X, the E8362C/63C/64C PNA, the N5230C PNA-L, and will be available on all future PNA family products. • These options are perpetual licenses. No time-limited options are planned. Contact the Agilent factory for a 30-day trial license. • The option 897 price is $700. • The option 898 price is $1000. • The site license price is $5000. As a security measure, a new site license must be installed each year at no additional cost. The Agilent factory will carefully manage the distribution of site licenses. 5. Installing and Updating the Embedded Test System • The Embedded Test System comes installed in firmware revisions A.07.22 and above. To get the latest version of the ETS, we recommend updating the firmware. • However, some users prefer to update the ETS without updating the firmware. And some users would like to install the ETS on PNAs with older firmware. As long as the PNA has firmware A.03.50 and above, simply go to http://na.tm.agilent.com/pna/pna_testing.html, use the links on the right side of the page to download the software, and run the executable on the PNA. 6. Accessing the PNA-X Embedded Test System • The ETS is accessed via the Service menu: • Utility » System » Service » Performance Tests on the new PNA-X user interface • System » Service » Performance Tests on the classic PNA user interface PNA Family Embedded Test System

  7. Detailed Features of the Embedded Test System – The Station Tab • The Station tab is where date and time, order number, testing notes, and GPIB addresses are entered. • If options 897 or 898, or a site license are not present, Permissions will show None. • Click on Modify to manually enter a site license or use the automated registry tool to store a site license to the Windows registry. • Use the Scan GPIB button to scan the GPIB bus at the addresses provided to ensure the test equipment is communicating. Not all of the test equipment needs to be connected to use this function. PNA Family Embedded Test System

  8. Detailed Features of the Embedded Test System – Site Licenses • When you click on Modify, this site license entry dialog is shown. Click on Keyboard if you need the keyboard tray to slide out. • This license is stored in the Windows registry, so re-entry is not required. • Manual entry is not required when using our automated tool. • To prevent fraud, the site licenses are limited to one year intervals. Each December, we will issue new licenses for the next calendar year. • If we find license fraud, we will be able to trace these unique licenses back to the license owner. 9. Detailed Features of the Embedded Test System – the Tests Tab • The Tests tab shows each of the tests which must be completed for a full report. • Depending on the model and options, 9 to 14 tests must be performed. Only the tests required for the PNA’s model and option set are displayed. PNA Family Embedded Test System

  10. Detailed Features of the Embedded Test System – the Report Tab • When each test is complete, the Report tab will list all test result files. Select those results to include in the final report and click Generate Reports. • Click View Test Results Directory to open Windows Explorer showing all files produced by the ETS. • Click Purge Test Results to erase the individual test result files. The test result files are not needed after the final test report is generated, and they should be purged to prevent inappropriate manipulation and re-use of the test data. The full PDF test reports will not be erased. PNA Family Embedded Test System
