  2. Buttermilk is often used to marinate a variety of dishes. It is a combination of milk and added microorganisms that gives a tart taste to the milk and a thicker consistency. The microorganisms give the milk more acid and making it useful for marinating tough cuts of beef. The acid in the butter milk helps break down all the connective tissues in the meat and make it tender. You can use buttermilk in a variety of beef jerky recipes as per your taste and requirements.

  3. To begin the tenderizing process, take the fine amount of beef onto the flat surface and hit it gently using a meat mallet. Sprinkle good amounts of salt and pepper on the beef to lightly cover the surface of beef. • Shake buttermilk and pour two cups into a food storage zip lock bag. 4. Place the beef into the storage bag with buttermilk, squeeze all the excess air and tightly seal it closed. • Make sure the beef gets evenly coated with the buttermilk. Keep the bag into the refrigerator and let the beef marinate for at least 30 minutes to 24 hours maximum. • Now cook the beef in your preferable beef jerky recipe after discarding the buttermilk.
