  2. Coverage • MEDLINE: 1966 - (abstracts & MeSH) • OLDMEDLINE: 1949 to 1965 (no abstracts or MeSH) • “in process” citations: very recent before MeSH is added • publisher supplied citations: will never have MeSH added

  3. MeSH, mapping & subheadings • MeSH = Medical Subject Heading • Controlled vocabulary used in MEDLINE • Examples of mapping: • car  automobiles • heart attack  myocardial infarction • Subheadings = aspects of a topic • drug therapy • history • trends
