Common Errors That Delay Processing • Deviating from default time • Incorrect or late reports • Incomplete reports – missing data • Submission of report on incorrect form • No quantitative data • No qualitative data or data not adequately described/detailed in report. • Time does not match log • Time miscalculated and does not match • No total number of hours on documentation • No signature on documentation

  22. ABGT services summary

  23. FAQs • How and when am I paid? If all the conditions for payment are met per contractual agreement, processing of payment transfers is completed on the last day of the month following the month in which services are rendered. • Am I compensated for time spent driving or on phone calls? No. You are a contract employee. Any expenses you incur are your responsibility. But don’t forget that you may deduct most of your expenses from your taxes but you must keep accurate records. Check with a tax advisor for what you can deduct. • Are there tutoring materials available through A Better Grade Tutoring? Yes. When a tutor accepts a student assignment a packet of work materials will be provided by ABGT. You may also borrow curriculum materials such as textbooks and manipulatives from ABGT.

  24. How many total hours does each client have available? Each student receives between 20-33 hours of instruction time. This includes pre- and post-assessments. Each tutor is required to spend a minimum of 3 hours with each student each week. Sessions MUST be 1 ½ hours each per state requirements. • What happens if I tutor over the hours contracted? Since we are restricted to the number of hours contracted with the school district, any hours you tutor over the number contracted is a Free Gift from You to your student. The total number of ALLOTTED tutoring hours for your student is posted on your webpage. You will want to keep accurate accounting of the number of hours you tutor each student. • What if I tutor past the “Tutoring End Date”? Any hours you tutor past the official end date is also a Free Gift from You to your student. Plan your tutoring schedule to finish before that date.

  25. What do I do if a client/family is uncooperative? As soon as you detect this, using the Contractor ??? form you will contact ABGT to notify them of the issue. If you are unable to set up a 1st appointment after 48 hours of consistent attempts (calling at different times during the day, leaving messages that are not returned, using alternate numbers), contact ABGT via the Contractor ??? form. Remember to document all contact attempts. • What happens if a client is a “No Show”? Wait for 15 minutes. You are then free to leave. Since you are not compensated for “No Shows”, it is a good practice to call the night before a scheduled session to make sure that they have not forgotten. You might want to call before you leave for the session until it is established that they are reliable. Submit the Student Session Cancellation Form. If you have a “No Show”, you can deduct the mileage from your income tax. • Can I tutor multiple children in the same family at the same time? You may tutor multiple children in the same family but must tutor them separately and at different times.

  26. Can I tutor a child on homework if the parents request it? Under the NCLB Act we are contracted to tutor in Reading, Language Arts, Math & Science only (in some states). For that reason you can only use homework as a part of tutoring if it is directly related to one of the goals on the Goal Sheet. TEA (Texas) and ODE (Ohio) do not allow homework to be a part of NCLB tutoring. • Can I transport a child that I tutor? Under NO circumstances can you transport a child or family member you are tutoring due to liability issues. • Do I need to have a computer and a connection to the Internet? YES. If you do not have access to a personal computer, many libraries, universities and copy centers offer this service. • Who do I contact if I am having problems with the website? Use the Contractor ??? form to report all website problems. But remember to follow the instructions on the right of the page to clear issues on your computer FIRST.
