  3. Tactical Risk: -Grand Armee is divided on 3 different AoA to cross the Thuringer-Wald. Mitigation: -Napoléon organizes forces into Battalion Carre (mutually supporting, all around defense) Opportunity: -The Grand Armee saves 3-4 days in transit and is able to surprise Prussian Army.

Concept Sketch and Statement: Operational Framework: Decisive-Shaping-Sustaining Operations Mission: NET 160001OCT1806, the Grand Armee defeats the Prussian Army IVO Jena IOT cause the government of Prussia to seek peace terms. Intent: The purpose of this operation is to cause the Prussian government to capitulate to French peace terms. At end state the Grand Armee has defeated the Prussian Army IVO Jena. The Prussian Army can no longer offer organized resistance and withdraws towards Berlin or is captured. The Grand Armee is allowed freedom of maneuver and can move on Berlin quickly following consolidation and reorganization. Deep Operations: Close Operations: Decisive Operation: Corps #1 crosses the River Saale and defeats main body of Prussian Army IVO Jena. Shaping Operations: Corps #2 secures a lodgment on west bank of River Saale IVO Jena IOT allow Corps #1 to cross and build combat power to attack. Corps #3 fixes enemy along Weimar-Jena Road IOT prevent envelopment of Corps #1. Corps #4 fixes enemy north of Jena IOT prevent envelopment of Corps #1. Corps #5 isolates enemy north IVO Auerstadt IOT envelop Prussian Army. Corps #6 follows and supports Corps #5 IOT protect envelopment maneuver. The Reserve Cavalry initially covers forward during movement, then screens to the East and South. The Grand Armee reserve, the Imperial Guard, locates IVO Jena and commits to ensure success of DO. Fires: ISR: Identification of Prussian Main Body. Flanking movements on Weimar-Jena and Jena –Camburg roads. Attempts to reinforce Prussian Main Body. Sustaining Operations: Bavarian forces protect LOC’s between Wurzberg and Jena through Thurniger-Wald IOT protect supply routes.
