  2. Discussion and Reading • Did you all strongly agree or strongly disagree with any of the statements? • Why/why not? • Read the short biography of the author, Maya Angelou. http://www.biography.com/people/maya-angelou-9185388#later-successes • Read Mrs. Flowers, page 20-23.

  3. After you read… 1. Did reading “Mrs. Flowers” change or strengthen your opinions on any of the statements? 2. Choose one of the statements and write a paragraph to explain your opinion. 3. How does this short story relate to the biographical information you read about Maya Angelou? (2-3 sentences) 4. Complete the imagery chart and the chart of literary terms. 5. How did Angelou take a stand in history? (2-3 sentences)
