  1. HBP Series Blower Purge Desiccant Compressed Air Dryers

  2. HPB SERIES HBP Series Blower Purge Desiccant Dryers Provide pressure dew points of – 40°F, – 40°C Eliminate water from systems exposed to sub-freezing temperatures Reduce moisture content in critical applications

  3. HPB SERIES Meeting global demand for: Energy Savings Quality & Reliability

  4. HPB SERIES • HBP Series Dryers Minimize Energy Requirements • Bed design and flow arrangement • Use of efficient heaters and blowers • Heater and hot piping insulation • Pressure drop minimized by tower, piping and valve design • Standard • Energy Saver Temperature Sensing • Optional • Moisture Sensing Demand Control • Tower Insulation • Piped and Mounted Filtration • Digital Dew Point Monitor

  5. HPB SERIES • HBP Series are 100% Efficient • Match Supply and Demand to: • Reduce Compressor HP by 20% • Minimize Operating Costs • Save Floor Space

  6. HPB SERIES Dryer Type Comparison HBP Series - More Usable Air, Less Energy Consumed, Less Floor Space Required

  7. HPB SERIES Operation Tower 1 — Drying Tower 2 — Regenerating Inlet Valve A — Open Inlet Valve B — Closed Standard Towers go on and off line on a set time basis

  8. HPB SERIES Operation Tower 1 — Drying Tower 2 — Regenerating 1) C opens - tower depressurizes - C closes 2) D opens - blower starts - heater turns on 3) Blower and heater operate until Energy Saver Temperature Sensing System detects bed is heated through (regenerated) Standard system 4) D closes - E remains open - tower is slowly repressurized - E closes 5) Tower 2 is fully regenerated ready to go back on line Inlet Valve A — Open Inlet Valve B — Closed

  9. HPB SERIES Operation Tower 1 — Drying Tower 2 — Regenerating User Selectable 4) Two Stage Regeneration System After first stage regeneration, 4.5% maximum (0.8% average) of dried air flows through G and partially cools the bed, reducing dew point and temperature spikes. 5) D closes - E opens - tower is slowly repressurized - E closes 6) Tower 2 is fully regenerated ready to go back on line Inlet Valve A — Open Inlet Valve B — Closed

  10. HPB SERIES • Optional Moisture Sensing Energy Management System (EMS) • 3-way pilot valve directs air sample from the on-line bed to the EMS sensor • Highly reliability EMS sensor detects relative humidity & temperature (± 1% RH typical at 50% RH in 5 years) • Tower remains on-line until the moisture front arrives at the sensor • Saves energy by regenerating only when necessary

  11. HPB SERIES • Desiccant Beds • Minimum four hour on-line drying time ensures efficient bed utilization in a cost effective design • Large desiccant beds ensure consistent dew points • Extra desiccant included to compensate for bed aging • High grade of durable activated alumina used • High crush strength and abrasion resistance • Static adsorption capacity: • 21 wt% at 60% RH (typical)

  12. HPB SERIES HBP Series Dryers offer Long Bed Life Desiccant bed life maximized by: Controlling flow to prevent desiccant deterioration Upflow drying to protect bed from liquid contamination Low regeneration temperatures

  13. HPB SERIES Desiccant Tower Design SS inlet and outlet air diffusers Separate fill and drain ports ASME code constructed and stamped Pressure relief valves FILL PORT DRAIN PORT

  14. HPB SERIES • Air Flow • Upflow drying protects bed from liquid contamination • Downflow regeneration prevents bed movement & allows condensed water to drain freely • Counter-flow drying/regeneration conditions protects the “bone dry” desiccant at the dryer outlet while minimizing energy usage

  15. HPB SERIES Blower Durable, efficient blowers with TEFC motors Intake filter/Silencer Mounting pads and flexible air connections Controlled by IEC-rated contactor and overload relay with manual reset

  16. HPB SERIES • Heater • Designed for maximum service life • Low watt density elements with Incoloy® sheaths • Close temperature control minimizes temperature swings • Protection against element burnout provided by: • Separate hi-limit control with RTD input • Pressure switch on heater discharge • Overcurrent protection with manual reset • Heater controlled by an adjustable, digital indicating temperature

  17. HPB SERIES Insulation Heater vessel and upper purge piping as standard to maximize efficiency Optional Fully insulated towers Durable - melamine foam and fiberglass protected by jacket of polyester fabric impregnated with PVC Minimizes heat losses, reduces heater size Protects personnel from hot surfaces

  18. HPB SERIES • Construction • Finished with heat resistant 2-part epoxy • Meets seismic requirements of Uniform Building Code Zone 4 • Electrical construction conforms to National Electrical Code ANSI ASME UBC NEC

  19. HPB SERIES Air Flow Control • Durable air control valves maximize reliability 3” Pipe size & aboveAir operated butterfly valvesResilient elastomeric seats 2” Pipe size and belowAngle seat poppet valvesTeflon seats High cycle life & no field lubrication required

  20. HPB SERIES • Butterfly pneumatic actuators provide power and durability • Actuators isolated from air stream • Inlet valves - double acting rack and pinion uses air power to both open and close valves • Dual pistons offer large control area, high torque, rapid response • Position indicator shows if valve is open or closed • Purge valves - spring return holds valves closed prior to start-up and upon loss of pressure

  21. HPB SERIES Pilot Air Filtered and Dependably Controlled for Sure Actuation Non-lubricated pilot valves with hermetically sealed coil Pilot air filter Isolation valve allows easy filter service

  22. HPB SERIES Check Valves Soft seated for sure closures and minimal wear

  23. HPB SERIES Depressurization Valves Separate valves allow slow depressurization on each tower All models include mufflers keep noise below OSHA required levels Full tower repressurization through purge valve & heater prior to tower switchover.

  24. HPB SERIES Repressurization Valve Allows tower to be fully repressurized before switchover
