  11. Lead Indicators • Reading and math scores contain a high degree of variation during the last 2 years • Scores are rebounding from a previous year low • Focusing on standards have yielded positive results

  12. Lessons Learned • District did not make AYP in reading last year • Grade level data fluctuations need/are being addressed • Performance plateaus need/are being addressed • Reading skills need to be strengthened at all levels

  15. Formative Assessment • Assessment for learning • Taken at varying intervals throughout a course to provide information and feedback that will help improve - the quality of student learning - the quality of the course itself

  16. Summative Assessment • Assessment oflearning • Generally taken by students at the end of a unit or semester to demonstrate the "sum" of what they have or have not learned • Summative assessment methods are the most traditional way of evaluating student work

  17. GRADING • Through discussion and research, the purpose of a grade is to communicate the academic progress of students to the students and their families • A grade should reflect what a student knows and is able to do in a course of study

  18. NEXT STEPS • Read 180 - build reading and comprehension skills • Implement RTI in the middle level • Implement PLC’s in the high school • Use Data and Data Warehousing for Aimes Web, MCA and NWEA
