Art Portfolio Typically 15-20 pieces * Collection of your student’s “best” art * Quality more important than quantity * Can be class assignments, independent projects, sketchbook pieces, etc. * Diversity in technique, variety in subject matter, & showcase student’s “artistic voice” * Solicit feedback from GHS Art Faculty * Portfolio should be clean, organized, easy to handle * Requirements & criteria vary by school & view artwork

Top Tier Art Schools Portfolio Requirements Observational art * Drawing or painting in traditional method using still life, figure model, portrait or landscape as subject and rendering as accurate as possible Personal art * Created outside the classroom and reflects artists unique interests in materials, subject & concept Home exam * School or department specific requirements (e.g. Rhode Island School of Design “bicycle”, Cooper Union home test for architecture & art)

Time: 1pm-5pm NPD Advice * Bring your sketchbooks. Many reviewers will ask to see them; including rough and unfinished work. * Go early, bring friend(s) / sibling to wait in line(s), and bring backpack with food / drinks. The most popular art schools will have long lines. * Be prepared to discuss your art. * What inspired you to create this? * Where do you get your ideas from?
