  1. Grid Experiments AdvancesMay 23rd 2008 Torsten Eymann Tina Balke Stefan König

  2. Classification of Grid Experiments in the Whitebook Context • Grids are one application to the Theories and Experiments conducted in the project Design Questions: • Overall Question: Is it possible to improve Grid-Systems with the help of Reputation? • How to measure consequences of reputational information in Grids? • Measures of Performance (indicators can be found in the Wiki (http://megatron.iiia.csic.es/mediawiki/index.php/White_Book/Theory_Introduction - Design Questions section) Technology (II)

  3. Conference Advertising • Cfp sent to different relevant projects and communities, e.g. • AssessGrid: http://www.assessgrid.eu/index.php?id=466 • GridTrust • NESSI • CoreGrid • D-Grid • SORMA, CATNETS

  4. The Grid Experiment Market Structurehttp://megatron.iiia.csic.es/mediawiki/index.php/Decisions_on_Grid_Requirements • Market structure based on CATNETS experiences • four types of players, which act on two interrelated markets Basic Service Market Resource Market Reputation Reputation Demand (externally given by principal) Complex Service Agent (CSA) Basic Service Agent (BSA) Resource Agent (RA) Auction Auction Demand Demand Supply Supply

  5. Grid Experiments Auction Mechanismhttp://megatron.iiia.csic.es/mediawiki/index.php/Decisions_on_Grid_Requirements • Auction mechanism is to be used on Basic Service as well as Resource Market • Several auction protocols possible,we start with the English Action • Within one protocol, only one auction at a time (queuing) … CDA Dutch Auction Bidders English Auction CSA1_Site 1 BSA1_Site0 BSA0_Site3 … m…n CSA2_Site3 Provider Queue … after auction: logging of (time; own_ID; winner_ID, own_bid) auctioneer: highest_bid to all registered agents (+ winner)

  6. Grid Prototype – current status • Deliverable is due in Month 28 (End of July) • Auctions are already implemented, there is still work to be done regarding the agents’ budget, service execution and agents’ strategies
