Unpacking the Modules • Your modules should come in boxes with individual boxes inside • On the top of each box should be DVI, RJ45, and power cables (US only) • If you purchased a controller, there will be a RS485 dongle, PS2 dongle, four Colorgraphics DVI connectors, set of keyboard/mouse, and terminal panels (DIO Option) • Do not throw these items away (If you lose these items, you will need to purchase new ones)

  4. Cascading the Modules • Rack the modules as close to the controller as possible • If you have a single group or multiple groups with less than 15 modules, then you do not need a network hub • Follow the directions in the hardware manual for instructions and diagrams on how to wire your system • If you need a connection diagram, we can provide one for you to help you quickly cascade your modules

  5. Starting the Controller • Once you have all the cables connected, make sure the power supply is set to either 115v or 225v depending on your region and power on the controller • If the controller is on a KVM switch, make sure you have it switched to the controller so you can see it boot • After the controller boots into Windows 2000, power on all the modules • It is common for your group display to show a black screen or go to sleep at this point

Setting the Output Resolution • Overview • Set the output for standard resolutions • Set the output for non-standard resolutions • Options • Manually adding the resolution • Restart the controller for the settings to take effect • Manually set the resolution for each port using Windows 2000 display settings

Setting Standard Modes • Right-click on Windows desktop • Select Properties • Select Settings tab • Select monitor icon 2 • Verify the settings are the same • Move the slider to 1024x768 or 1280x1024 • For 1600x1200 you will need to enable this resolution • Set the resolution for all monitor icons except 1 and disable all the ones that are not used

  8. Setting Non-Standard Modes • Double-click on Set Array from the Windows taskbar • Right click on monitor icon 2 and select Advanced and then Options • Make sure the following are checked • Repeat for all Plug and Play monitor icons

Setting Non-Standard Resolution Continued • Right-click on the monitor icon and select Advanced and then Non-Standard Modes • Select Add to enable a resolution • 1280x720 • 1280x768 • 1360x768 • 1400x1050 • 1920x1080 • Select Save and then Apply to finalize changes • Restart the controller for changes to take affect

  10. Setting Non-Standard Resolution Continued • After Windows restarts, go into display properties • Select Settings and make sure each monitor icon is set to the desired resolution • Icon 2 = Group 1 • Icon 3 = Group 2 • Icon 4 = Group 3 • Icon 5 = Group 4

Configuring Multiple Groups • Connect to the RJ45 cable from the controller to the master module of group 2 • Make sure to set the IP address of the controller to 210.100.100.150 and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 • Launch Galaxy and connect to the master • Select Settings and then Set IP Address to 210.100.100.152 • Make sure you write down the IP address on the module some where on the unit • Close Galaxy and select Yes when prompted to save • Power cycle the module • Repeat for all additional group master modules

Starting Cosmos - Scan • From the desktop of the controller, run Scan_NetModules.exe • Select Broadcast to find all IP addresses in the system • If this does not return any results, power cycle the master in each group, and then try again • After it detects, select Save and then exit the program

  13. Starting Cosmos - Detect • Double-click on Cosmos on the desktop of the controller • The module detection report will show all active IP addresses with modules associated with that address • Select OK to continue

Starting Cosmos – Group Setup • Select the total number of active display groups and select Next • At the Group 1 setup screen select all modules for group 1 and Include them in the group • If you are using an Avitech controller, UNCHECK NO Attach VGA and select the first available monitor ICON starting with 2 • From the drop down box, select the display resolution • Select Next to setup additional groups or Finish to continue

  15. Starting Cosmos – Set Monitor • Select the Aspect Ratio and the Size of the display you are using • This menu is allows you to keep track if you have multiple groups it does not set the output of the modules • Select OK to continue

Starting Cosmos – Clear System Files • This is the Cosmos control menu, if you see this after the detection report, then you should clear the system files so you can configure each group • To clear the system files, select Program-MCC Files-Clear All System Files • You will be prompted twice, make sure you select YES both times

  17. Using Cosmos • TAKE command: After making any changes on the control screen, make sure to select this to update the Group Display • Program menu: These options affect all the modules in the system • Group menu: Right-click in the black space to access this menu, options in this menu will affect only the selected group • Window menu: Right-click in a window box to access this menu, options in this menu will affect only the selected window • Mode: Three modes are available for different scenarios, they are as follows: • System Status: Allows operators to monitor the status of the system • Layout Control: Allows operators to make changes to the layout and appearance of the windows • Touch Control: Allows operators to interface with the software through a touch panel LCD • File menu: Allows users to save group presets and to export labels

  18. Saving Your Work • When you are finished laying out your monitor wall and saving presets, exit Cosmos and make sure you select YES when prompted to save • This will save you the hassle of going through the setup process the next time you launch Cosmos • If you need to Add/Remove modules or groups or change the output resolution of your display groups, follow the directions in Starting Cosmos – Clear System Files

  19. Backing Up Data • After you are done with setting up a system, it is a good idea to back up the entire CosmosV4xxxxxxxx folder on a removable disc such as a flash drive, CD, or a file server • It is also a good idea to save other crucial information such connection diagrams of your system and anything else pertinent to your configuration
