  2. DOM PEDRO IS ONE OF THE LARGEST SQUARES IN THE CITY

  3. THE PAVEMENT IN THE SQUARE GIVES A DIZZYING FEELING

  4. THE NATIONAL THEATER IS AT ONE END OF THE SQUARE

  5. FOUNTAINS IN THE SQUARE

  6. ON A HILL ABOVE THE CITY, AN OLD CASTLE STANDS GUARD

  7. THE STATUE OF KING JOHN I IN PLAZA DA FIGUERIA

  8. UNUSUAL BALCONY DECORATIONS

  9. THE CIRCULAR BULLRING IS USED AS A MULTIPURPOSE ARENA

  10. LISBON IS BUILT AMONG 7 HILLS AND IT HAS SEVERAL SYSTEMS TO EASE CLIMBING THEM. HERE IS AN INCLINED STREETCAR.

  11. ANOTHER ONE IS A PUBLIC ELEVATOR. IT HAS AN EXIT TO THE STREET ON ITS UPPER BACK SIDE. IT IS ALSO A TOURIST ATTRACTION OFFERING MAGNIFICENT VIEWS FROM THE UPPER LEVEL.

  18. HUGE WALL DECORATION MADE FROM TILES IN THE SUBWAY STATION

  19. GARE DO ORIENTE (ORIENT STATION) IS ONE OF THE MAIN TRANSPORTATION HUBS OF LISBON FOR TRAINS, METRO, BUSES AND TAXIS. ITS GLASS AND STEEL COLUMNS ARE REMINISCENT OF PALMS, MAKING THE WHOLE STRUCTURE FASCINATING TO LOOK AT. IT WAS DESIGNED BY THE ARCHITECT SANTIAGO CALTRAVA AND FINISHED IN 1998.

  20. ACROSS THE ORIENT STATION IS THE PARK OF NATIONS SITE OF THE 1998 WORLD EXPO.ONE OF THE BUILDINGS IN THE PARK IS THE OCEANARIUM.

  21. A GROUP OF PRESCHOOL CHILDREN VISITING THE OCEANARIUM. THE GREEN CAPS HELP THE TEACHER KEEP THEM TOGETHER.

  22. THE PARK IS BORDERED BY RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS AND HAS UNUSUAL SCULPTURES

  26. THE VASCO DA GAMA TOWER WAS OPENED IN 1998. ITS SHAPE EVOKES A NAUTICAL SAIL AND STANDING AT 145M/575FT HIGH, IT IS LISBON'S TALLEST BUILDING. AT THE TOP IS A VIEWING PLATFORM REACHED BY THREE SPECTACULAR PANORAMIC GLASS ELEVATORS THAT PROVIDE A GRAND VIEW OVER LISBON, THE TAGUS RIVER, AND THE VASCO DA GAMA BRIDGE.

  27. VASCO DA GAMA IS A CABLE-STAYED BRIDGE THAT SPANS THE TAGUS RIVER. IT IS THE LONGEST BRIDGE IN EUROPE AND THE FIFTH LONGEST IN THE WORLD WITH A TOTAL LENGTH OF ABOUT 17 KILOMETERS, INCLUDING ABOUT 1 KILOMETER FOR THE MAIN BRIDGE.
