A day in the life of a Reception child… • 8.45am – Good morning! • Coats, water bottles, snack tubs, book bags • Doodle a day & write your name • 9.00am – Register, Dough Disco & Phonics • Getting our hands ready for writing. • Learning new sounds and tricky words. • Playing phonics games, letter recognition and formation. • 9.30am– Discovery Time • Child initiated learning both inside and outside • Small group and 1:1 teaching and learning with an adult • 11.30am– Tapestry Time – Time to Talk • Looking at Tapestry messages from home. • Sharing experiences and talking about our lives outside of school. • 11.45am– Lunchtime(Reception only for the first 15 minutes) • 1.00pm– Register & Maths • Learning new mathematical skills and vocabulary together • as a class. Playing games, number recognition and formation. • 1.30pm– Discovery Time • 2.45pm– Storytime • Sharing books and stories. Singing songs. • 3.15pm – Home Time Friday 3.00 – 3.15 Stay and Read Pick a Pack! Tuesdays 2.30-3pm Reading Partners Wednesdays 9.30 – 11.30am Outdoor PE & Relax Kids HH – Tues AM JBDP – Weds PM Forest School

  5. Reading Early success with phonic based reading scheme books Is sharing a story part of your child’s daily routine? Introducing Grandma Pauline & Mrs Liles… Extend simple stories by talking about the characters, settings, feelings. Hints and tips for parents can be found on the inside cover! As your child progresses digraphs will be introduced. Every Monday

Forest School Mrs Prior and Mrs Hill Level Three Forest School leaders Weekly sessions once our initial settling in period is over (Old clothing that covers arms and legs, waterproofs & boots) Develops confidence, independence, problem solving skills and enriches the children’s knowledge of the natural world More information regarding clothing and dates to follow!
