  1. Welcome to Oxford Language Dictionaries Online – instant access to Oxford’s top-of-the-range, fully searchable bilingual dictionaries. NEW November 2009: Oxford Language Web

  2. Choose the language(s) to which you have subscribed

  3. Use the Search tab to carry out both quick and advanced searches

  4. Use the Browse tab to navigate the dictionary alphabetically

  5. Link to the extensive Tools and Resources section for lots of additional information (sample letters, useful phrases, quizzes…)

  6. Subscribe free to Word of the Day to increase your vocabulary each day

  7. Finding a word

  8. Either browse through dictionary entries alphabetically… …allowing the Word Wheel to scroll to match your search term…

  9. …or use the Search tab to go straight to the word you want. For accented characters, either type directly into the search box… …or simply use the pop-up virtual keyboard.

  10. Even typing without using accented characters will return a search results list, showing potential options.

  13. Change the way the entry appears by showing or hiding examples and idioms…

  16. Click on the part of speech to find out what it stands for and what it means.

  17. Double-click or highlight a word to look it up instantly on the other side of the dictionary…

  32. Using the Chinese and Russian dictionaries…

  33. Russian: Enter Cyrillic characters using the pop-up virtual keyboard (or those who have a Russian keyboard installed can type Cyrillic characters as normal).

  34. Chinese: Use the Radical and Character Index to find and enter Chinese characters (or those who have a Chinese keyboard installed can type Chinese characters as normal).
