  1. The Shepherds Luke 2 8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,    and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.” 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

  2. The Shepherds An Extraordinary Experience Luke 2 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,    and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.” God changes us as we experience His Glory

  3. The Shepherds Ordinary Working Men Luke 2 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. Social Outcasts and Religious Outcasts. God Intentionally chose the Outcast the Overlooked and the Despised. 1 Cor. Ch.1 26Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. GOD gives us DIGNITY, SELF-WORTH, PURPOSE and IDENTITY.

  4. The Shepherds CHOICE and EFFORT 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” 16 So they hurried off … They left their sheep and travelled a distance in a hurry. They found (after a search) the baby in a manger. God rewarded their efforts. Philippians Ch.3 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, 14 I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus. GOD rewards personal devotional time and group Bible study.

  5. The Shepherds They Told Everyone 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. They told everyone about Jesus : Saviour, Christ and Lord Unusual evangelists God expects us to fulfil the Great Commission 2 Corinthians Ch.5 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God GOD can use even you.

  6. The Shepherds They Went Back To Work 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. Changed People. Changed Attitude. God in the workplace. Ephesians Ch.6 5Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, 8 because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free. GOD has a purpose for us in the workplace.
