  3. Why does Marji lie on 54/2? Use 2 details and explain how they support your answer. Marji wishes her dad was a hero like Laly's dad b/c she's jealous & wants to impress her friends. 52/4-6. Marji is upset b/c her dad isn't a hero like Siamak. 54/2. Marji is trying to impress her friends by saying her dad is tough and can take torture.

  4. Why does Marji compare Anoosh to Laly’s dad on 57/4 & 60/4? Explain why you chose this answer. All Marji is thinking about is having a hero in her family just like Laly. 52/4-6. Marji is upset b/c her dad isn't a hero like Siamak. 54/2. Marji is trying to impress her friends by saying her dad is tough and can take torture.

  5. What do you think the underlying theme/message of this chapter is (take special note of 54/1-2 & 61/4)? Explain why you chose this answer. The revolution is real, not an abstract game! Marji is worrying about bragging rights but Anoosh is trying to get her to see that Iran's problems aren't abstract philosophy. They're about real life problems and struggles.
