Federal Data Reporting • ‘Annual Count’ – • Determines Funding Amount • Reporting Window 30 Consecutive Days Where At Least 1 Day falls in October • Consolidated State Performance Report (CSPR) – • To Measure the Effectiveness of Programs Being Assisted with Title I, Part D Funds • Reporting Window  12 Months

  5. Annual Count(Survey 9 in Florida) Funding amount is dependent upon the # of students residing (living) in delinquent programs for at least 1 day during 30-day window determined by LEA Deadline for SEA to submit to ED - January 17, 2013

  6. Annual CountIncrease N&D Funding • Counting the same student more than once • Capturing students who arrive on the weekends and holidays • Reporting students who turn 18 years old during the selected 30-day window • Inclusion of students who have a GED or who have earned a High School Diploma

  8. Program EvaluationFederal Requirement Subgrantees conducting a program under subpart 1 or 2 shall evaluate the program, disaggregating data on participation by gender, race, ethnicity, and age, not less than once every 3 years.

Program EvaluationImpact On Student Achievement • To maintain and improve educational achievement • To accrue school credits that meet State requirements for grade promotion and secondary school graduation • To make the transition to a regular program or other education program operated by the LEA

Program Evaluation • What have we learned from the 2010-11 Program Evaluation? • Some of the data may not accurately reflect the # of students being served with Title I, Part D funds. • Where are we headed? Florida will be including the evaluation in next year’s grant application • Status on 2012-2013 Program Evaluation

Parental InvolvementPossible Solutions • Set up a Conference Call • Email a questionnaire to parent for input • Distribute prevention brochures in the lobby for parents • Provide them with resources that will strengthen their skills – • Parents who can’t read – Refer them to a volunteer in your area • Provide material that will help them bond with child

Partnerships with Local Businesses To prepare students for employment after release • Completing an application • Providing a demonstration in the Automotive Technology class • Training on social skills in the workforce • Field Trips to business so students can get a better feel of the job requirements • Job shadowing • Job interviewing tips

  19. Classification of N&D ProgramsDelinquent Programs A delinquent program is not an after- school detention/suspension program for students with behavioral problems. A delinquent program oversees children and youth who have been adjudicated to be delinquent or in need of supervision.

  20. Classification of N&D ProgramsNeglect Programs A program for neglected students is nota foster home. Neglect programs are operated for the care of children who have been committed to the institution or voluntarily placed under applicable State law, due to abandonment, neglect, or death of their parents or guardians.

Classification of N&D ProgramsCharacteristics of At-Risk • At-Risk of Academic Failure • Drug/Alcohol Problem • Pregnant/Parent • Contact with Juvenile Justice Program in Past • Gang Member • LEP Student • Dropped Out of School in Past • Truancy • At last 1 year behind expected grade level for the age of the individual
