  3. Mechanism Of Injury • An elbow hyperextension injury happens when the elbow is bent back the wrong way. The injury will occur more in contact sports such as football or wrestling. The elbow pain is caused when the elbow is forced to bend the wrong way or hyperextend causing damage to the ligaments and structures of the elbow.

  7. Treatments • P.R.I.C.E • Ultrasound can also reduce pain • Over the counter pain medication like acetaminophen or ibuprofen • Wear a sling to prevent elbow from extending

  8. Rehabilitaion Your doctor can show you simple therapy to increase the range of motion you can get from your elbow without feeling pain. You can begin with gentle range-of-motion exercises in your arm. After successfully completing those exercises, you can begin doing resistance training using weights to build the strength in the muscles around your elbow. Keep it wrapped with one of those stretchy brown wraps that you wrap up common sprains with.
