INTERNATIONAL EXERCISES - PACIFIC • PacWave 2006 (Philippines, Chile source) – 44 countries • PacWave 2008 (NW Pacific source) – 40 countries • PacWave 2011 – Nov 2011 • PTWS Exercise Task Team – meet Wellington, 4 Mar 2011Chair: ITIC, NZ Civil Defense; Members: PTWC, JMA, countries • Review the PacWave08 Summary Report to identify lessons learned Design and carry out PacWave11 • Intl Communications exercise to test decision-making protocols and procedures; ‘downstream’ national to local exercising, including evacuation decided by country • Multi-source to allow everyone to play, e.g., SW Pacific, South / Central Amer, Cascadia/Alaska, NW Pacific, South China Sea • Provide better exercise conduct guidance to encourage standard methodology, including planning, debrief, and baselining (develop from best practices of NZ, USA, Indonesia, others) • Announce to Member States 180 days in advance (May 2011) • Exercise Manual at least 90 days in advance (Sep 2011)
