The State of the Air in California: • 8 of America’s10 most ozone polluted cities • 90 percent of Californians still live in areas with unhealthy air • 3 million people living with asthma • 700,000 children • 9,200 premature deaths annually due to current particulate levels • Transportation is the leading source of harmful emissions in our state: • 70 percent of smog-forming gas • 20 percent of fine particulates • 40 percent of greenhouse gas

Key Recommendations to Protect Public Health • Adopt Strong Advanced Clean Car Regulations: • 75 percent reduction in criteria pollutant emissions • 45 percent reduction in GHG emissions • 20 percent ZEV mandate by 2025 • “Clean Fuel Outlet” requirements for sale of cleaner fuels • Uphold Strong Low Carbon Fuel Standard • Maintain compliance schedule • Accurate accounting of fuel carbon lifecycle, including indirect land use. • Assess and mitigate bio-refinery emissions
