  3. William B Travis (1809-March 6,1836) • Commander of the Pros at the Alamo • Lawyer • Troublemaker from Anahuac • 26 years old • Wrote, “To the People of Texas and All Americans in the World” • Given command of ALL Texas troops during the Battle of the Alamo

  4. James Bowie(1796-March6,1836) • From Louisiana • Slave trader and land speculator • GTT to get away from United States • Moved to San Antonio • Commander of the Volunteers at the Alamo • Gave Travis command of all of the Volunteers during the Battle

  5. David Crockett (1786-March 6,1836) • Most famous man inside the Alamo • Former US Congressman • The Lion of the West • Was in Texas 3 months before the Alamo • Controversy surrounding his death

  6. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna(1794-June 21,1876) • Commander of Mexican Army & President of Mexico • Wins the Battle of the Alamo • Kills all defenders of the Alamo • The Napoleon of the West

  7. Sam Houston(1793-July 26,1863) • Commander of the Texas Army • Does not die at the Alamo!!!! He wasn’t there!! • We will discuss him more in class!
