  4. James Bowie(1796-March6,1836) • From Louisiana • Slave trader and land speculator • GTT to get away from United States • Moved to San Antonio • Commander of the Volunteers at the Alamo • Gave Travis command of all of the Volunteers during the Battle

  5. David Crockett (1786-March 6,1836) • Most famous man inside the Alamo • Former US Congressman • The Lion of the West • Was in Texas 3 months before the Alamo • Controversy surrounding his death
