  3. Robin Hood • He was half-Saxon and half-Norman. • His mother – Johanna Gamwell (Saxon) • His father – William Fitzooth (Norman)

  5. Chapter 1 • A Norman lord killed Sir Gamwell’s sons. • He doesn’t like him because he is a Norman. • Joanna and William are hiding from her father. • He meets him in the middle of Sherwood Forest. • They will live near Joanna’s father.

  6. Chapter 2 6. Robin’s grandfather, mother and father die, so he becomes lord of Gamwell and Locksley. 7. The villagers didn’t like Sheriff because he took everything from them, and the villagers were hungry. 8. Rich men and Prince John’s men used the Great North Road that went through Sherwood Forest. So Robin robbed them. 9. Robin is robbing his men, so he is losing money. 10. He is going to send one man to a party at Locksley House. He will dress like a villager and ask who is Robin.

  11. Robin Hood (Ch. 3) • Lady Marian is Robin’s fiancé. Robin loves her and wants to marry her. P.5 • Sheriff and his men fight Robin outside the abbey. P. 5 • Robin wants to help the poor villagers until King Richard comes back. He wants rich and greedy men to be afraid to walk through the forest. He doesn’t want Sheriff to find him at his house (Locksley House). P. 5-6

  12. Robin Hood (ch. 4) • Sheriff asked Prince John for Robin’s lands. The prince sold them to Sheriff for a lot of money in gold. P. 6 • The sheriff found Much with a dead deer. He said that Much killed the king’s deer. • He wanted to teach the villagers a lesson. • He asked him not to destroy his home because it’s his son’s home too.

  13. Robin Hood - Ch. 4 5. Much says he will take him to Robin. 6. Much runs and Sheriff’s men kill him with a bow. 7. Will Scarlet is Robin’s friend. 8. Robin sent him to help. 9. He will live in the forest with Robin’s men.

  15. Robin meets little John on a bridge in the forest. • Robin arrived first and Little John would not wait. Little John wanted to fight. (He’s very big) • His last name is Little. Robin thinks it’s funny because his last name is Little, and he’s very big. So he calls “Little John” now. • His son killed a man in a fight. The man died, and the Sheriff’s men took his son away.

  16. 5. He needs to pay him 1,100 pounds. 100 pounds more than what he paid the Sheriff. • Little John likes adventures. He is big and can help Sir Richard explain the situation. (for protection)

Ch. 7-9 Questions • Sir Richard gives 600 pounds, and Little John gives 500 pounds. • The abbot wants to take Sir Richard’s house and lands. • Sheriff wants to catch Robin at the party. • Sheriff asks Lord Fitzwalter if he can marry his daughter Lady Marian. • Lord Fitzwalter told Marian to marry Sheriff and forget Robin.

  20. Ch. 7 – 9 Questions 6. Lord Fitzwalter wants her to marry Sheriff because he is rich and important. 7. Lady Marian’s plan is to leave early in the morning and go to her uncle’s house. She wants her father to say he doesn’t know where she is. 8. Friar doesn’t like the abbot because he takes a lot of money from the villagers. 9.Friar is a greedy man too. He eats more than ten men. He’s big and strong, so Marian’s father is happy he is going with her.
