  15. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: Friends in Christ: Let us draw near to God our Father with a true heart to confess our sins, and ask him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us.

  16. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: Our help is in the name of the Lord. C: ♫ He mádeheavên and earth. M: I said, I will confess my sins to the Lord. C: ♫ Then hé forgave the guilt of my sin.

  17. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION C: Almighty God, merciful Father, I, a poor helpless sinner, confess to you all my sins, and repent of all the evil I have done. I have deeply displeased you and deserve your punishment in time and in eternity.

  18. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION But I am sorry for my sins, and I ask you, for the sake of the holy innocent sufferings and death of your dear Son Jesus Christ, to be gracious and merciful to me. Amen.

  19. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: I ask each of you in the presence of God who searches the heart: Do you confess that you have sinned, and do you repent of your sins? C: I do.

  20. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: Do you believe that Jesus Christ has redeemed you from all your sins, and do you desire forgiveness in his name? C: I do.

  21. CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: Do you intend with the help of the Holy Spirit to live as in God's presence, and to strive daily to lead a holy life, even as Christ has made you holy? C: I do.

CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION M: Upon your confession, I, as a called and ordained servant of the word, announce the grace of God to all of you, and on behalf of my Lord Jesus Christ , and by his command, I forgive you all your sins, in the name of the Father and of the Son † and of the Holy Spirit.   30. PRAYER OF THE DAY M: Let us pray for thankfulness. C: God of our salvation, thank you for healing us and making us whole. Make us always thankful and ready to praise you, rejoicing in your goodness.

  31. PRAYER OF THE DAY We ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

  32. FIRST READING  R: The first reading for the 21st Sunday after Pentecost is written in chapter twenty nine of Jeremiah beginning at verse one. Jeremiah29:1,4-7 CEV Jeremiah's letter to the exiles in Babylon

  33. Jeremiah 29:1,4-7 1-2I had been left in Jerusalem when King Nebuchadnezzar took many of the people of Jerusalem and Judah to Babylonia as prisoners, including King Jehoiachin, his mother, his officials, and the metal workers and others in Jerusalem who were skilled in making things.

  34. Jeremiah 29:1,4-7 So I wrote a letter to the prophets, the priests, the leaders, and the rest of our people in Babylonia. 3I gave the letter to Elasah and Gemariah, two men that King Zedekiah of Judah was sending to Babylon to talk with Nebuchadnezzar.

  35. Jeremiah 29:1,4-7 In the letter, I wrote 4that the LORD All-Powerful, the God of Israel, had said: I had you taken from Jerusalem to Babylonia. Now I tell you 5to settle there and build houses. Plant gardens and eat what you grow in them.

  36. Jeremiah 29:1,4-7 Get married and have children, then help your sons find wives and help your daughters find husbands, so they can have children as well. I want your numbers to grow, not to get smaller.

  37. Jeremiah 29:1,4-7 7Pray for peace in Babylonia and work hard to make it prosperous. The more successful that nation is, the better off you will be. This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

  38. Psalm 66:1-12CEV R: The Psalm is Psalm 66 R: 1Tell everyone on this earth to shout praises to God! C: 2Sing about his glorious name. Honour him with praises.

  39. Psalm 66:1-12CEV R: 3Say to God, "Everything you do is fearsome, and your mighty power makes your enemies come crawling. C:4You are worshiped by everyone! We all sing praises to you."

  40. Psalm 66:1-12CEV R: 5Come and see the fearsome things our God has done! C: 6When God made the sea dry up, our people walked across, and because of him, we celebrated there.

  41. Psalm 66:1-12CEV R: 7His mighty power rules forever, and nothing the nations do can be hidden from him. So don't turn against God. C: 8All of you people, come praise our God! Let his praises be heard.

  42. Psalm 66:1-12CEV R: 9God protects us from death and keeps us steady. C: 10Our God, you tested us, just as silver is tested. R: 11You trapped us in a net and gave us heavy burdens.

  43. Psalm 66:1-12CEV C: 12You sent war chariots to crush our skulls. We travelled through fire and through floods, but you brought us to a land of plenty. C: Glory to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit As it was in the beginning is now and will be forever. Amen.

  44. SECOND READING R: The second reading is written in chapter two of 2nd Timothy beginning at verse eight. 2 Timothy2:8-15CEV A call to endurance

  45. 2 Timothy2:8-15 8Keep your mind on Jesus Christ! He was from the family of David and was raised from death, just as my good news says.

  46. 2 Timothy2:8-15 9And because of this message, I am locked up in jail and treated like a criminal. But God's good news isn't locked in jail, 10and so I am willing to put up with anything.
