  1. Alpha Chi Rho New Member Education Program Presented by: Dom Paradise and Ryan Barck

  2. Why am I here? • This is presented to you for your help. • This is a good example of what should be happening during the Postulancy period. • Take notes, ask questions, and exercise theses suggestions during the school year.

Postulant Packet • Anti-hazing Policy • What is expected from the Postulants • Scholarship Program • Community Service Opportunities • Leadership Development • Fraternity History • Membership Contract • Schedule of all postulant and Chapter events • Detailed description of all postulant events

  4. Expectation of Postulant • Every new member must complete the Postulant Education Program, which lasts at most six consecutive calendar weeks. • Every new member is required to keep above a 2.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale to be initiated into Alpha Chi Rho, unless the college/university has a higher standard. • Every new member is required to do a minimum of 15 hours of community service during their postulant period. • Every new member is expected to complete 6 hours of studying a week during the Chapter’s study session at a date and room determined by the Scholarship Chairman. • Every new member is expected to look at organizations outside the Greek community and is encouraged to join one. • Every new member must pay the Initiation Fee ($365) before being initiated in Alpha Chi Rho. • Every new member must be current in all financial obligations to the Chapter.

  5. Scholarship Program • Education is number 1 priority • Scholarship Chair has a copy all postulants’ class schedule • Scholarship Chair sets up mandatory study hours and provides dates and times

  6. Community Service • Community service projects are not just for Postulants, Brothers should attend also. • These are good times where Brothers and Postulants can have fun together while still helping out the community. • Postulants are expected to have a minimum of 15 community service hours completed. • Community Service Chair should provide Postulants with opportunities.

  7. Postulant Program Schedule • Put together a schedule of what is happening on a day to day basis. • Send a copy of the schedule to National Headquarters • List what will be discussed during each meeting. • Provide the history for each weekly quiz.

  8. Example Week • New Member Meeting • Pick a set day, place and time when the weekly meeting will take place. • Start the meeting off with a team building exercise provided in the Postulant Educator Manual. • These events are meant to build Brotherhood and responsibility • Discuss Postulant program and what is expected of Postulants. • Questions about the program are answered now

  9. Example Week con’t. • Study Hours Monday – Thursday 7 – 9pm • Brotherhood dinner Monday – Friday 6pm • Discuss Big Brother/Little Brother Program • Give first week of History and other useful information for each week’s quiz • Tuesday: • Postulant Pinning Ceremony after weekly Brotherhood meeting • Thursday: • Postulants will receive their Big Brothers through the individual Chapter’s ceremony.
