  2. How to be Happily Married… • It’s harder to do than to say. • Five ways to help do this better.

  3. 1) Live in Love Each Day • NIV Genesis 29:16 Now Laban had two daughters; the name of the older was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel. 17 Leah had weak eyes, but Rachel was lovely in form, and beautiful. 18 Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, "I'll work for you seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel.”

  4. 19 Laban said, "It's better that I give her to you than to some other man. Stay here with me." 20 So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her. 21 Then Jacob said to Laban, "Give me my wife. My time is completed, and I want to lie with her."

  5. Live in Love • NIV John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

  6. Live in Love • NIV Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. • NIV Ephesians 5:28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

  7. 2) Make Marriage Monogamous • NIV Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

  8. Monogamous • NIV Matthew 5:27 "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

  9. Monogamous • NIV Proverbs 5:16 Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? 17 Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers. 18 May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19 A loving doe, a graceful deer-- may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love.

  10. 3) Be Parenting Partners • NIV Proverbs 1:8 Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. 9 They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.

  11. Parenting Partners • NIV 2 Corinthians 12:14 Now I am ready to visit you for the third time, and I will not be a burden to you, because what I want is not your possessions but you. After all, children should not have to save up for their parents, but parents for their children.

  12. 4) Manage Money • NIV Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

  13. Manage Money • NIV 1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

  14. Manage Money • NIV Proverbs 30:25 Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;

  15. 5) Figure Out Forgiveness • NIV 1 Corinthians 6:7 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?

  16. Forgiveness • NIV Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

  17. Forgiveness • NIV Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

  18. How to Be Happily Married • Live in Love Each Day • Make Marriage Monogamous • Be Parenting Partners • Manage Money • Figure Out Forgiveness
