  2. What we will learn today • We will learn about the fire triangle and how we can prevent a fire from happening

  3. We have already learned that: • Fire is not like we see on television • It is very hot, moves very fast and makes everything very dark

  4. We have also learned that: • It takes three things to cause a fire: • Heat - or something that is hot • Fuel - or something that will burn • Oxygen - the air that is all around us

  5. Do we know what a triangle is? Three sided shape - needs all three sides to be connected to be a triangle

  6. The same way that the three lines have to be connected to form a triangle, the heat, fuel and oxygen have to be connected to cause a fire. Oxygen Heat Fuel

  7. We call this a FIRE TRIANGLE Air Heat Fuel

  8. Fire Triangle The red side is the HEAT side.

  9. Fire Triangle The yellow side is the FUEL side.

  10. Fire Triangle The blue side is the OXYGEN side.

  12. If we remove any one side of the triangle, the fire cannot happen Remove the HEAT sources, and there is nothing hot to start the fire

  13. If we remove any one side of the triangle, the fire cannot happen Remove the FUELsources, and there is nothing to burn.

  14. If we remove any one side of the triangle, the fire cannot happen Remove the OXYGENand there is nothing to feed the fire.

  21. REMEMBER - You can prevent fires by not playing with matches or lighters.
