  3. Test Purchasing 32 shops visited over 3 days during half term • 5 shops sold alcohol, 4 sold knives, and 2 sold tobacco to a 14 year old. Sale rate of 34%, overall. • 2 people were found to be working illegally in the UK. • 5 x £80 fixed penalty tickets, for alcohol, 4 cautions for knives and 2 warnings were issued for a first offence of selling tobacco. • 25 counterfeit bottles of wine were found on sale in two Off Licensed premises • One premises was found selling alcohol without being licensed, a Trading Standards Notice was issued. Crime Prevention Recently in Lambeth there have been a number of burglaries where the elderly victim has been followed into their home as they opened their front door If you think you may be being followed as you get near to your home • Do not go indoors if they are too close to be able to shut the door behind you. • Do go to the nearest public place e.g. shop/garage/library • Do call the police if they continue to hang around If you are at home and there is an unexpected knock at the door • Do not open the door without checking who is there by looking through a window/spy hole If you are unable to identify them • Do not let them in phone the police and • Dotell your neighbours Karen Hunn Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator Tel 020 7926 2716 or Email Khunn@lambeth.gov.uk

  6. Neighbourhood Watch Letter Box Burglaries • There has been an increase in this type of burglary. The perpetrator puts their hand/tools through the letter box and opens the door from the inside. This is an easy quiet access to the premises. • Vehicles are being stolen from these venues as car keys are visible. • Even when in your property at night double lock the door so a key is required to open the door and not just by using the handle inside. • Keep keys in a place all members of the family are aware of to open the doors in case of an emergency but out of sight of a burglar. • If you want to know more about Neighbourhood Watch • Karen Hunn Tel 020 7926 2716 or Email Khunn@lambeth.gov.uk

  9. Violence : Brixton • Brixton Road Area • 8, Assaults Peak days Monday, Tuesday, Saturday. Peak times 1900 to 0500 hours • Key issues for Offending • Licensed Premises • Drug Dealing Acre Lane • Youth on Youth attacks Area Crime Reduction Manager to work with licensing on identified licensed premises. Mobile CCTV at the J/W Coldharbour Lane to deter violent crime and drug dealing. Personal Safety advice to NHW coordinators

  10. Robbery: Vassall Overview: 8 Personal & 1 Commercial Robbery Location: Vassall Ward along Brixton Road (Stockwell Cluster) Time: 5 offences during the week & 4 over the weekend. Offending peaks between 1800 – 2200hrs Method: 2 pizza delivery drivers targeted Victims: Only one victim of school age Park Rangers to drive through the Cowley Estate when going to and from Mostyn Gardens. CCTV to be parked at the J/W Mostyn Road and Brixton Road. All Pizza Deliver companies to be informed of the offences in this location. ASBAT North to patrol the area between Mostyn Gardens and Vassall Road.

YOUTH CRIME OFFENDERS 142 offences with youth suspects/ accused between • 14/02/2011 to 27/02/2011. • This is a decrease of 45 offences(24.1%) compared to the previous two weeks. • Compared to last year, there has been a decrease of 18 offences (11.3%). • Biggest ward contributors: • Coldharbour (16), Ferndale (16), Vassall (11), Princes (11) and Knights Hill (11). • Main offence was: Robbery of the person (41), Possession of Cannabis (15), Common assault (11), ABH and Malicious Wounding (10) and Robbery commercial (10). • Peak days for offending were: • Tuesday (28), Wednesday (23) and Thursday (24). • The peak time for offending was between 1600 and 2200 hours (79 offences).

YOUTH CRIME PRIORITY AREA Priority Area Coldharbour Ward and Surrounding area Serious offences within this area include: ABH / Malicious wounding, Robbery of the person, Assault Police and Common Assault. The peak days for offending were spread throughout the week with a slight increase on Wednesday The peak time for offending was between 1400 to 1600 hours. • The next school holiday test purchase operation for knives, alcohol and tobacco to be carried out in this area. • Mobile CCTV at Stockwell Road J/W Brixton Road Thursday and Friday 1500 to 1800Information to Young and Safe to consider interventions.

Fri (1), Sat (2), Sun (3) 3 Daytime 3 Nights 5 door entries (4 front) 3 had doors slipped Area: Streatham South Ward Weekdays. 3 Daytime 3 Nights 6 front door entries of houses Of note: Jewellery taken: 18 burglaries have occurred in Streatham South since 27/11/2010 where jewellery has been specifically targeted. • Door Alarms given to repeat victims available from Karen Hunn. • Advice to NHWs re letter box burglaries and general crime prevention advice. • Contact to be made with Asian communities re theft of jewellery. • ASBAT South to Patrol north part Streatham High Road.

Burglary : Streatham South • 19 burglaries • 9 Nights (2030 – 0800) • 8 Days (1000 – 2100) • 15 front door entries, 12 houses, 3 flats • 6 forced, 4 kicked, 1 glass pane smashed • 2 entries via letter box • Burglary victims to be asked to register their property on Immobilise. • Target the area east of the railway line to set up new Neighbourhood Watches. • Door Alarms given to repeat victims available from Karen Hunn. • Advice re reducing burglaries to be circulated on Community Safe.

Theft From Motor Vehicles : Vauxhall Oval Ward 12 Theft From MV offences in the last two weeks Offences predominantly to the west of South Lambeth Road, Oval Ward Repeat locations in this hotspot: Miles Street (3), Bondway (2) & Wyvil Road (2) 10 offences occurred on weekdays, with peaks on Friday (4) and Monday (3) The majority of offences occurred in the evening, between 1800 – 2200hrs Main property targeted in this area are number plates, stereos and satnavs Most common entry method is smashing windows Week 1 – 9 Offences Week 2 – 3 Offences ASBAT North to include this area of patrol when posted to the Vauxhall transport hub. Motor Vehicle crime prevention advice to NHW Coordinators. Cluster teams to continue with giving out crime prevention information to residents available from community safety

  24. Anti Social Behaviour These reports have been received from Lambeth SNTs in the last 2 weeks. The intention is to assist the SNT to deal with these issues before they escalate. Larkhall Gang-related graffiti on Ashton House, Springfield Estate. Clapham Common Graffiti on wall of construction site every day. Coldharbour Flat in Southwyck House taken over by squatters. Thornton Fence separating Langholm Close and Angus House broken, facilitating crime and ASB Detailed locations and times to follow

  25. Anti Social Behaviour These reports have been received from Lambeth SNTs in the last 2 weeks. The intention is to assist the SNT to deal with these issues before they escalate. Tulse Hill Increase in drugs and vice on Calidore Close due to broken gate. Streatham Hill Drugs and vice setup behind shops on Streatham Hill. Vassall Garden of vacant property on Evesham Walk being used by sex workers. Detailed locations and times to follow
