  2. Initial Ideas – Alternative Fairy tale

  3. Overview • Genre: Comedic animation • Target Demographic: • The audience is between any ages and gender, suitable for young audiences but with funny almost slap stick scenes that adults can also relate to.

  4. The situation – • The narrative is an alternative story to the typical fairy tale narrative of a princess being protected by a dragon. • There are 2 characters, the princess and the dragon. They are young, best friends and spend a lot of time outside playing. • It is a story of a strong female friendship.

  5. Environment – The environments will be a very sparse environment with a few trees, rocks and flowers in the foreground and a castle off in the background. The majority of the space will be white. Assets will have a 2D look as they are a in a story.

Princess Ella • Aged 6 • Physical description: Long dark hair tied in a bun, short with a large head and eyes, nimble, innocent face. • Clothing: Tiara, hair ribbon, green princess dress – puffy skirt and arms with long sleeves, stripy tights, green willies. • Narrative Role – Companion and best friend to dragon. • Character type – The nave, the child who is always getting into trouble and the naïve, the child who will always be innocent.

Cinder the dragon • Trainee guardian, Aged 5 and a half years • Female • Physical description: Taller than princess, spikes down the back from head to tail, large stomach, tiny wings, uncontrollable large tail, skinny legs and arms, green and spotty skin, pink spikes and stomach, large feet. • Narrative Role – Companion and best friend to Princess. • Flaws and limitations – Lack of confidence. Some physical limitations with being a dragon – falls over her feet and sets fire to things. She can also be shy and awkward, leaving Princess to take the lead.

  33. Story • Intro - 3D effect Cinder and Ella title. Goes to book with dragons birthday written on the front. Book opens and sketch of initial scene is on the page, fades to 3D shot – animation begins. • Animation -Princess brings dragon a cake, dragon tried to blow our the candles but cannot because of his flame. The candles stay lit whilst she blows until the cake is completely covered in soot. Dragon looks unhappy so princess leads her by the hand. Princess leads dragon to her surprise hot air balloon covered in birthday balloons. Dragon uses her flame to lift the balloon off the ground and is happy her flame isn't always bad. • Credits - Scene fades to sketch. Credits appear on the page of the book with illustrations of dragon and princess.
