  3. Write this down • Topnym- is the name given to a place on Earth.

  4. Site • The physical characteristic of a place. This includes….. • Climate • Water sources • Vegetation • Elevation

  5. Situation • The location of place relative to the other places • Example: Some locations encourage trade because they are in the pathway of major trade routes.

  6. Categorilla • Identify the nations listed on the map. • What are you mapping out?

Mathmatical Location http://olc.spsd.sk.ca/DE/k9mod/Mapskill/mod3fl5.swf • Meridian- line drawn between the North and South Poles • Parallel- is a circle drawn around the globe to the equator • Longitude- also known as meridian. The location of each meridian is identified on the earths surface according to a numbering system ( remember LONGitude) • Prime meridian = 0 • Latitude= The numbering system to indicate the location of a parallel. (remember LADDERtude, because it goes up like a ladder) • Times zones- are normally identified in 15 degrees.
